Im on board - Pike is not it

To me it looks like pike is checked out and looking to move on . Hobbs is gone so he probably wants out

Fumbling the bag on having two top 3 lottery picks isn’t acceptable. No confidence in his roster construction ability in the transfer portal.
Lot of us saying this for last couple of years only to be told "but Harper is coming" or "Bailey is coming" and all will be fine. Just look at the rosters he has recently assembled, the lack of offensive creativeness, and the fact that other teams have figured out our defenses. The ceiling was the NCAA loss at the Notre Dame play in game. But even then, the late season collapse the following year it was clear. Anyone who observed carefully knew it. Heck, Cam Spenser clearly saw it and bailed. We are seeing the best this coaching staff is capable of. If you still support is, great. Enjoy the mediocrity.

He’s gotta go. The momentum in the program is gone. Just an awful Xs and Os coach with blind spots for players who are detrimental to the teams success.

The transfer recruiting for this season is nothing less than a disaster (Martini, Hayes, Acuff). Derkack is the best of the bunch but plays out of control and isn’t composed on the court.

Lathan and Ogbole are not cutting it at the 5.

What made Pike work in the couple years it worked was developing an elite defensive team and getting enough individual offensive talent to pull out W’s.

The whole formula falls apart when he can’t get any defense out of this team. 2 NBA players don’t make up for this, other teams can create offense just as well by getting their 3pt shooters open looks and being smart about how they attack the our putrid defense.

We are stuck wirh him. No $$$
The money is there if they want to spend it. Common, we're getting over $80,000,00 a year in TV money from the Big 10. That will end up being over $500,000,000 in the next 5 years. During that time Pike will be getting $20,000,000. We have it if the cheapskates want to spend it.

The kid who transferred to Oregon saw it. Cam Spencer saw it.They both became better players under new coaches. Pike may be a good guy, but he is in over his head. There is no longer any doubt.

Look at the future. There will be many very poor years ahead. Recruiting is poor and the coaching is worse.
He could last this year and possibly next. He won't be here in 1927. Of course, there is always the possibility UCONN steals him away if Hurley leaves for the NBA - LOL.

I'm STILL laughing at people that thought UConn ever wanted him.

Didn't his buyout drop away down with Hobbs leaving?
When will this embarrassment of a school get off their ass and hire a president and AD already? Would any other B1G school operate like this?

If it did then lets get it done.

You're right. It goes from $11,000,000 to $5,500.000 in 2027. We need to stop with the "we can't afford it BS." Knowing this, I think there is a chance he's gone after this year.

Who's gonna fire him? That won't be left up to the interim AD. Gotta get a new AD who will probably give him a year to show him something before bringing in his own guy.

Rutgers is not getting $80,000,000 per year in TV money from the Big Ten, not even close.

Last year, media rights deals paid schools between $40 and $50 million. Rutgers got $44 million. Schools provide media rights revenue in their financial reports to the NCAA. That is where the $40 to $50 million figures come from.

Where do you get the $80 million and $500 million figures from? Seems absurdly high based on actual payments received and reported by the schools.

Hes going nowhere until at soonest march 2027
Don't agree. After next year we're talking $17,500,000 the next four years including buyout, not to mention the drop in season ticket sales, which might be huge. And there's no way a new AD keeps him around, and if this year plays out like it looks, and next year is more of the same the fans will crucify him, and Pike is a guy who likes to be liked. Regardless of all of this, he just stinks.

The projected income per B1G school is between 80-100 million. That's where the revenue sharing amounts are determined from. We will be allowed to use 18-20 million to for revenue sharing. The formula used to determine this amount is about 20% of incoming revenue.

His buyout is insane. It would be a high buyout even if it was a higher rev/$$$ sport like football. Im not paying pike $13,000,000 to take a walk. Its gonna be a whole lotta mediocrity for these next few years. The big money donors love him as a guy. Hes going nowhere

Don't forget his buyout wouldn't be a lump sum payout but over the course of his contract years. RU could well afford it. We did it with less monies while paying off Flood, Ash and Jordan.

Well it was expected to be $100,000,000 in ten years, and we're in year nine. And even at $200,000,000 we can afford to fire a coach. That's what the big boys do.

The problem with replacing HC Pike is what will the state of the program be and how enticing will it be for the next HC candidates?

2023: Bubble and missed tournament
2024: Finished next to last in conference
2025: Potentially huge disappointment
2026: No Ace or Dylan - how are we going to do?

No less enticing than PSU was. I think the coaches at Columbia or Princeton would take the RU job in a second

Much like our football coach. Unfortunately this is acceptable at the state university of nj.
Basketball is much easier to turn around. A few players make a difference. Imagine getting two unicorn players to fall into your lap because of pre existing relationships. Only to squander it because you can't build a roster around them or figure out how to coach anyone to actually get better.
