Im on board - Pike is not it

Basketball is much easier to turn around. A few players make a difference. Imagine getting two unicorn players to fall into your lap because of pre existing relationships. Only to squander it because you can't build a roster around them or figure out how to coach anyone to actually get better.

The thing is pike did turn around the program, as did Schiano. Both have reached their peaks.

Neither are championship caliber coaches. Both great program guys..but can’t take the next step…

But again, this is fine for our admin and a large sector of our fanbase so I don’t see a change..

Greg has a much harder lift and can still deliver more. Pike can't. This is what he is

Maybe Greg can deliver more, but Pike has delivered more so far, if this is it for Pike - which it may be, he’s still had more success than Greg.

Don’t want this to turn into a pike vs Greg argument..I’m just saying both very similar coaches that aren’t championship caliber - but our admin seem and fanbase seem to love, it is what it is.

What exactly has Pike delivered? And we are moving backwards even during his unicorn season (which honestly fell into his lap). The future with Pike is bleak

Numerous top 25 appearances. Numerous wins vs top 25 teams. 3 ncaa appearances.

Agree…looks like we’re moving backwards. And Pike should go..but he won’t. Our admin is perfectly fine with what I mentioned above.

The definition of mediocrity. The problem is too many on here celebrate that

I've said this before - Pike makes GS look like Knute Rockne, and I don't think GS has reached his peak either. He's very much a teaching coach and that's why he puts kids in the NFL. Kids will keep coming to RU for that reason. A lot of kids have left the bb program because they believe they can get better somewhere else. Kids don't leave GS for that reason.

Exactly my point and what I’ve been saying.

Our athletics department is perfectly fine with mediocrity (and a large part of our fanbase too) which is why there won’t be a change anytime soon.

I disagree. Pike has had more success than Greg. (And yes, both have had very little success)

Basketball is so much easier to turn around. I wouldn't have thought this two years ago, but I think GS is doing a really good job. You can't even say Pike is doing average job at this point.

Again, Pike DID turnaround our program. As did Greg. Both great program builders.

Look at the last four years Mike and tell me again how Pike has built the program. If you've had a couple of top four finishes then maybe you've built something. Averaging 9-10 place finishes over 9 years in the Big 10 is not building much, even following EJ.

Look at the future. There will be many very poor years ahead. Recruiting is poor and the coaching is worse.
Let’s see what the remaining pieces from this year class and the 27th ranked class coming in actually becomes. Maybe they will be maybe they won’t but the recruiting is poor statement is simply not correct.

Next years class won't be anywhere near 27th when all is said and done.

Who's gonna fire him? That won't be left up to the interim AD. Gotta get a new AD who will probably give him a year to show him something before bringing in his own guy.
Lol exactly, our computer programmer looking interm AD isn't firing anyone.

He. Is too nice in my opinion. So tired of him thanking the world at every press conference and giving praise to the other teams and coaches. And complimenting his players like there is no tomorrow. Maybe Spencer was right when he hinted there is no accountability in this program. We need a tough love personality who knows his X’s and o’s. .

There are so many great teams in this league, and great coaches, and this is the best league in the country. Enough, block out, rebound!

I would like to see more accountability in general. We see that when a player whiffs on defense and suddenly goes to the bench yet its not the same standard for everyone

Stop playing players who are not producing and net negatives. Curse out the refs when its clear a call doesnt go our way and defend our players. Have some fight in you!
