Iowa game is key to our Bowl hopes

You do realize ND State has a 9-3 record against FBS schools including being 5-0 against the last five Power 5 schools they have played. They are far better that Howard and NM. Rutger only has one more B1G win than ND State as they are 3-1 against B1G teams.
ND State could place more of a beat down on us than any team on our schedule

We got better from the UW game to the Howard game to the NM game. We can continue on that trajectory. If we can get better from last Saturday's performance, and get more production from the QB spot, no reason why we can't win Saturday. Iowa just lost to ND State. They're capable of losing to Rutgers, but we've got to bring it Saturday.
Im sorry but NDSU is a good school. Like noted prior they are 5-0 or 6-0 against FBS schools. They would light us up like a christmas tree. I hope we beat Iowa i think itll be closer than some think. But there are plenty of reasons to believe we will not win. An upward trajectory against Howard and New Mexico really proves... well nothing.

NDSU is a good school. But they're not Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, or Nebraska. Furthermore, We're playing Iowa, not North Dakota State. I think that we would be competitive against NDSU, though we might not win.

Thankfully, we don't have to worry about that, because we're playing Iowa, Not ND State. While Iowa does have better depth and a better history of success, we have enough talent to compete. Lets not sell ourselves short before the game begins. I view this game similar to the Arkansas games we've played in the past.

They're not Ohio State, they're not Michigan, they're not Wisconsin, and they're not Nebraska. Sure, we could lose, but this is an opponent, we should be competitive against. Laviano had a good game against MSU last year and I think he is capable of having a good game against Iowa.

A beat down from ND State would not occur because they have the talent of OSU, Mich or Mich St. It would happen because of the system, invironment, culture and mindset they've created.

I don't mind being called delusional along side my fellow Montclair Mountie.
A game changing QB would do wonders for us on both sides of the ball.

That is an understatement. A QB who can complete a large percentage of just the short passes and move the chains, keeping the defense on the sideline longer, or at least not starting out in bad field position would do wonders right now.

Look guys, I get that we have a long way to go to play with the OSUs and Michigans, but you can't possibly be serious with these statements. So NDSU is on par with OSU now? Of course NDSU could beat us, but "light us up like a christmas tree" is a bit dramatic. Let's see what we are really dealing with this saturday...if Iowa "lights us up" then maybe you can make statements like this.

If we had a kid like the Louisville QB, I think we easily beat all of the teams on our schedule except OSU, MSU and MU
and our games against the big 3 would be much closer than they would with our current starter.

Edit: I should have added that as Zappa and Manhattan have pointed out, we have never had a game changing QB with both dynamic running and passing skills so many of us don't understand the impact that such a player has on the whole team, not just the offense. WVU without Pat White, Oregon without Mariota, big difference. When we do have a QB like that it will be a beautiful thing.

Ya, as noted our QB play to this point has not been good. And if you go from what we have seen to very good QB play, that changes things dramatically.

And for what it's worth, Laviano was not this bad last year, I don't rule out an uptick in play from him. Even a fairly significant one.

I like CL and I admire him for responding in the off-season like he did, but it seems like this offense is less of a fit for his abilities than the pro offense was. Hopefully, he gets more comfortable this week, but I am not counting on it.

Speculative. Sure they could win, but beat us down? Not so sure on that one. I'd be very shocked if that were to occur. we're building our own systems, environment, mindset and culture. sure we've got a ways to go, but that doesn't mean we have to throw in the towel vs every decent team.
