Issa Thiam signs LOI

Now we have another guy who can play SF and maybe a little PF. He can hit from outside and is 6'9" tall.

Shoes delivers.

1st we need 8 players who can play both sides of the court at a high level. If one of these 8 guys are 6'9'' it is a very good thing.

Big addition. Hopefully he gets through the NCAA Clearinghouse.

So, does anyone have a sense of how likely he is to get through this process? BK seemed pretty down on his chances of making it to RU and I'm assuming he knew what he was talking about.

I suspect that a couple of well informed sources know the answer to this question -

Does it look like
(A.) his credentials / transcripts will be blessed by the NCAA & he will be cleared without issues
or
(B.) is there reason to be very measured in our excitement because it may be a lengthy review process with a difficult to predict outcome.

Great get for us...I've been excited about this kid since I was first informed we were recruiting him last summer.

I love being wrong about stuff like this. RU (well, Shoes) was always the leader for this kid...that never really changed during the process, despite bumps in the road.

I don't expect academics to be an issue here.

OK, if Phila Pans' pinned roster is right, we have one opening left for 2016-17. Can we sign the Martin kids, who have to sit out a year, or would they still count against this year's total? Or is a current player perhaps going to bolt? Has Sanders officially rescinded his NBA bid?

We have 3 scholarships left to fill this year. If the twins commit, they use 2 out of the 3 remaining scholarships even though they have to sit out a year.

Thiams favorite player is Kevin Durant. He said on an instagram post he is shooting 500 threes a day. Seems like a mature kid who is working to be the best he can be.

It does not have to be the caleb brothers to get us to the top. Would they help?Absolutely. But right now, we have a couple of versatile lineups we can run with. I analyzed Thiams game a while ago...two biggest take aways-Very aware on man defense, knows where rebounds come from. In the right place.

Sanders,Johnson,Williams,Thiam,Freeman. Sanders, Johnson, Thiam,Freeman,Sa. Sanders,Johnson,Laurent,Freeman,Sa.

Thiam is definitely more a sf than a pf. Just adds a little versatility with his length, and awareness of the court and where the ball comes off the boards.

Like our depth at the small forward position. Like our depth at guard. Biggest question for me is the front court. I think if Doorson is doing well like BK said, you keep working to get him down to his BMI, and he will be the center by the middle of the year. I do not see Sa as better them him after what we all saw of of Doorson. Most important part right now is monitoring Doorsons calories, and getting him in shape.

I am excited. I trust Pikiell can work with what we have right NOW.

I remember reading somewhere that he reminds some of a taller Peter Jok from Iowa. That's more of a 2/3, but it would be great if he can shoot nearly as well.

Seems to be more of a small forward if we are being traditional. That is just what I gathered.

HCSP at his press conference....."Did Rutgers Basketball get better today?"

Answer - YES

I agree! I don't understand who is advising Foreman that encouraged him to leave. This would have been a really good situation for him to develop as a player. I think RU has solid depth if they can get the bigs healthy. Let's get the NC State transfers and get going!

Do we know for sure Pikiell didn't politely encourage Foreman to seek options?

Is/was Doorson that overweight? has he gained weight? I don't remeber him being overweight.

The livingston dining hall was open, and Doorson was pushing him on a non weight bearing injury/scooter for five months.

Pikiell mentioned a lot of the players were out of shape. As someone who has ate at Livi the past three years, it is easy to gain weight if you are injured and cant run. His injury was bad. I think he probably gained 10-20 pounds.

If he gets it down to normal BMI, we are a decent team that will be able to lessen our 15-30 point blowouts. More like maybe 10-15 tops.

It is alright. I wish Foreman the best as he is from NY, but we are moving forward. I think we have some players that can keep the games competitive. Thiam is big.

The responsibility lays on Pikiell/SCC to get Doorson to right size.BK mentioned he was getting there.
