Doing shots is legal, as is playing beer pong. So is going to a gentleman's club. And so is vulgarity. The question isn't if he acted legally...as a high profile executive at a major university he needs to act as such and not behave as if he's at a frat party.

It's not the same as having a beer in the Audi club. He did need to apologize. Someone got that right.

Apologizing in this case only serves to legitimize a non issue as a real story. Why give credibility to idiots that look for any excuse to dump on anything RU?

There are a few posts on the Maryland 247 board (within a bigger LOL at Rutgers thread) with a few posts basically saying how stupid it is that people care about this. It's actually kind of awesome.

Time to impeach our President

Didn't say he should get major heat or that they should (or did)' shut down the alley due to this. And re: Obama, there's nothing wrong with having a beer.

It's that he shouldn't have been up on stage doing it there.

Do y'all think it would have been ok for someone in his Navy uniform doing that ? Or how about a police officer ? Hey, it's just a sip, right ?

The point is, it's not how he should have acted. And he did right by apologizing.

Shelby police officers or armed forces aren't trying to relate to college kids. So yes it's just a sip. I think you owe us all an apology for being such a square. I plan on staying on your lawn now.

I am not religious, but it is amazing to me how many people in the mainstream think it is funny to use Christ's name together with curse words or as a punchline. However, do the same to any other religious figure, and it is considered macroagression or even racist/biased. SMH. (Maybe it's best to not use any religious figures as a punchline or with curse words). I will go back to my safe space.

Hello strawman. You are completely mischaracterizing the issue. No one said the dividing line is legality. The dividing line is appropriate behavior. How was his behavior inappropriate? How did he "behave as if he was at a frat party?"

Mods need to clean this place up. This is doing zero good for the school or any of us. This is where some other boards have it right. Unfettered freedom of speech for every troll does not improve this MB or our athletic department.

I haven't seen the video but the story I read made his action seem fairly tame and a non story.
I actually think it sounded like a cool move on his part. It has gotten completely blown out of proportion. If I were him, no way I apologize

This is beyond stupid - wish more AD's and people in power would be more publicly 'human' like this - maybe we wouldn't have as many issues as a society that we have today.....waiting for the PC police to come get me - Ridiculous!

Y'ou might want to, if you think image tarnished, to canvass kids who were there. Someone like Hobbs coming forward in support of them is a big big deal on campus. No one else does

Seems pretty obvious to me that God has a wickedly funny sense of humor.

This is total BS and a non issue. The f'n guy took a sip of beer, not like he was f'n drunk stumbling out of a bar on College Ave.....All these PC jack asses have to give it a rest. I am getting so dam tired of this.

Also clearly Shelby has never seen a military ball. Everyone is in dress uniforms and trashed. Including the higher-ups.

This PC crap needs to stop. The guy took a SIP of beer in a crowd of students. I don't drink but that no f$%^king big deal. The fact that this has become a story for some people really shows how pathetic is the media in this country. Use your own minds.

This is such a non-issue created by the local media once again. People who think the SL and their ilk have changed only need to look at their initial response to understand that ain't so. And it probably would have been worse if DB Duggan was still on the beat.
Would you please edit and remove the part about your Lord and King Jesus?

He is God. Thanks.
Don't push your god on other people.

You're an idiot.

Can someone buy the SL and burn it to the ground?

Can't believe this made the news. What a freaking joke!
I can believe it because of the local press. They always try to create an RU scandal were there isn't one.

What I can't believe is that Hobbs actually caved to this non scandal and apologized for it.

Maybe others should crap on others' gods and there would not be a problem. . . .
