IU Fan here, looking for some insight on what to expect next Monday night. Heading to the game with my 12 year old son, who hasn't been to a road venue. Is the Rutgers crowd civil to visitors or should we expect to hear some 'noise' wearing our IU gear?

Recommendations on grabbing something to eat prior to the game in the area, sandwich/burger place, etc?

Anyone know if IU normally draws a lot of Hoosier fans from the area to the game?

Nothing to worry about. Probably be no more than 5,000 at the game. No one will bother you assuming you’re a reasonable human being.

If you want to keep things simple and easy, Henry’s Diner is right next to the RAC and has pretty good food.

I can tell you our fans are feisty but treat the opposition well
We pride ourselves on the RAC being a tough place to play
but we also pride ourselves on our civility(except vs Seton Hall and Penn State LOL)

Others can tell you better where to eat...there are some great choices none of which are concessions at the RAC from what I hear ;-)

I am not sure how robust Indiana tickets are selling
but Purdue is SOLD OUT!

Welcome to Rutgers.

The Indiana faithful showed up big time for the last 2 matchups at the RAC. - 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons. Was sitting next to my daughter, an IU student for both games, Her in Hoosiers gear and me in Rutgers gear. Love the candy stripe pants.

Usually there are quite a few IU fans at the RAC. I don't mind them but please don't wear those red & white striped clown pants to the game. It looks like a circus atmosphere.
The candy-striped warm-up pants are classics. As soon as you see them you know that person is an IUBB fan. I know a lady in Orlando who wears a pair when she works as the official score keeper at Orlando Christian Prep games.

try Stuff Yer Face for bolis on Easton Ave for a bite before the game...are you driving in?

The RAC is not near restaurants. Like someone above posted there is Henry's Diner under the Livi Apartments with pretty good food. If you want the typical food there is a Applebees and Friday's not to far away , use Google maps. If you want the college feel go to College Ave campus and go to Stuff Your Face. It has been on the restaurant shows etc.

No problem with fans.

Brick House at 4901 stelton rd in South Plainfield is decent. About 10 minutes from the game.

We had em in the 70s too and I wish we still wore em.

Stuff Yer Face on Easton Ave. will give you the classic college feel, though you'll need to leave yourself with time to eat and then drive over to the game (rush hour traffic in New Brunswick sucks). If you're a little shorter on time, Henry's Diner is the easiest place (the bottom floor of the building to the left of the RAC as you're walking up from the parking lot).

Like others have said, no one will bother you so long as you don't give them a reason to say anything. one other thing to keep in mind: outside food and drink aren't allowed in the building and they will take away bottled water if you're carrying it in your hands.

I hope you both enjoy the game at the RAC.

Thanks for the tips. We just moved to NJ this fall and haven't been to the area around Rutgers yet. This is as close as I have been to watch an IU game since college, so looking forward to it. After this, have football in September to look forward to as well.

Both teams have been up and down and this will be the third time that IU has had a road game on 1 day rest. They lost to IL(after beating MY), (Lost to Purdue Sunday) play at Oh St tonight, and then Rutgers after playing Mich St Saturday. Rough stretch for sure.

That sport coat in the front row is pretty snazzy too.
You’re looking at Herb Tarleck, LC77.

Supposedly went onto media (TV/radio?) sales out in the Midwest somewhere. Cincinnati I think.

Indiana does have some shit scheduling

they travel to Columbus on just one day rest after taxing Purdue game. Ohio State off buzzer beater loss and 4 days off no traveling

There is also a Qdoba Mexican on Livingston Campus in the same area as the Henry's Diner. Both are great for a pre-game meal. I would agree that Stuff Yer Face is a great option, I however prefer it after the game. There are lots of food options in Piscataway. Don't know where in Jersey you live, but I would make sure you give yourself extra time. Traffic in the area of the RAC on a school night is always tough.

Yep. That’s him.

I see he still never learned how to tie a tie after all these years.

Heard he had a problem with somebody in the office. Supposed to have been a real pretty blonde.

And there was a thing with the animal rights people too. That I am told did not end well at all.
