Is kiss better than McConnell? Some people really can't evaluate talent while it's slapping them in the face. Kiss is not a program builder. McConnell has the potential to be. His potential demolishes kiss's potential into a fine dust.

They have two totally different roles right now. Just watch the games, it is clear that Kiss' role is to set up on the 3 point line to help spread the defense. His role is to move around the court to different spots. Many times you will see Kiss just standing there spacing the floor.

I don't even remember seeing plays run to get Kiss open for shots right now...in part, that is a failure of the half court offensive sets.

If you prefer your roster is filled with 4 year players out of HS, like I do, players transferring out don't help all that much. Especially seniors to be.

What are the odds you find an unsigned HS senior in April that you are confident giving a 4 year commitment to?

I know it's message board conversation and speculation.....but, projecting next years minutes while we still have 7 games left this year, and while two incoming players that will be on the roster are still in HS......wow.

yeah because it's so insane to project minutes when we pretty much know 90% of the guys in the fold next year. Perhaps even 100% as it wouldn't shock me if the additional scholly or 2 goes to a sit out transfer or two. Just as it was insane for me to say in 2017 that the 2019 DL would be ****ed lol

it is unfathomable to me that anyone who is sincerely watching games can make a statement that their not sure if an 18 year old caleb is better and will continue to get better than a 21-22 year old kiss

Coach P (and Coach Hobbs) are UConn guys. We aren't going small other than as a change of pace. We are 2 1/2 classes in with Pikiell and he has recruited Omoruyi, Sa, Doucoure, Carter, Myles. We have seen him coach for (almost) three years and we never go small. If ever there was an opportunity to play "small" it was when EO went down for three games. Instead we saw Carter eat up all those minutes. And we are all over a bunch of bigs (again) in 2020. It wouldn't shock me at all to see two 6'9"+ players in our 2020 class.

I would make a Scarlet R wager that we will play traditional "4s and 5s" while Pikiell is our HC. And that is why I do not see Doucoure going anywhere. There are guaranteed minutes in '19-'20 (with Doorson graduating) if he has developed at all.

you're right, Kiss is just chained behind that line and isn't allowed to do anything else. You're acting like he'd get yelled at for putting the ball on the floor. To even think, never mind say/type that kiss is better than mcconnell is so out in left field that i sincerely have to question if youve been watching the games

You are correct they have two entirely roles. Starter and bench.

His Quinnipiac teammate Mikey Dixon just transferred from St. John's after sitting out a year. You never know.

I'll again state that I wouldn't want him or Thiam run off the team because it's not like we're overflowing with highly-rated guys who want to come here.

Heck we couldn't fill the final scholarship THIS season. What happens if Doucoure, Thiam, and Kiss all decide to transfer? Then we have four open scholarships. How confident are you we can replace those with better talent?

very confident. I honestly don't see issa here next year. I think he'll transfer down a level. I also don't see duke here next year, I've heard rumblings about both, nothing set in stone yet. In fact, I'd say there's a higher likely of duke being here next year than issa. Kiss won't transfer out after this season, he likes it at RU, does very well for himself socially if you know what I mean, he'd have to sit another year, what he'll do is stay 1 more year then grad transfer out. Listen, replacing guys like kiss, issa and duke isn't gonna be hard. Tons and tons or teams around the country only go with 7-8 man rotations, i don't think people realize how rare it is to play 10-11 guys.

I don't get into conversations about who is better....I just commented on the different roles that they have. And, watching the games it is clear that Kiss spots up on the 3 point line.

Yes, he should be more aggressive and drive when the opportunity presents itself. He did it twice against Northwestern.....scored a layup on one and beat his man on the 2nd one only to get mugged on the shot attempt.

EO: 34 minutes
Doorson: 17 minutes
Carter: 16 minutes
Myles: 16 minutes

So for 84 minutes out of the 90 minutes (40 minutes + 5 minute OT) available we had two bigs on the floor. It does appear that when our post players are getting roasted to the tune of 14-18/35 points then Coach P will try something different (Eugene on him solo for the last 4 or 5 minutes). So, I guess not never.

I'd think with PSU a lot depends on what their 2 Juniors do. If Stevens and maybe even Reaves go pro they'll be hard to replace.

What are you basing this confidence on???? We have an open scholarship right now for 2019. It's not like we're in the mix for multiple 4-star guys.

Getting a sit-out transfer like Jacob Young or a HSer like Caleb McConnell is the best-case scenario for that scholarship right now.

A middle-case is getting a sit-out transfer like Peter Kiss or Nigel Johnson or a HSer like Tai Strickland (no freshman year impact)

And worst-case is getting a Mensah or Bullock type. That fact that the staff kept the scholarship open tells me they're not going down that road of filling out the roster just to fill it out, but rolling over open scholarships year after year isn't what good programs do.

If Thiam or Kiss leave then we've got to find two guys. If one of them plus Doucoure leaves then you need three. That's a hell of a gamble.

If Duke transfers we would be very thin with big men. If Myles or Carter would get hurt next year we would be in some trouble unless Luke Nathan can contribute unless we land another big man who can come right in and play

Some people losing major credibility on this one. It's going to be hard to take their thoughts on players evaluation seriously on anyone if they can't see this.

I think you are right......however Let's keep in mind we couldn't go small last year because of personnel. This year going small means Issa and Kiss getting more minutes. I suppose that was viewed as an option earlier in the year, but maybe Harper and caleb werent .

The question is what is Pikiel's vision of what the protoype 4 and 5 look like. Will the bigs he recruits stay the same or will he gravitate to the 4th and 5th shooter on the court

I think Pike wants an athletic 4 who can do it all and shoot the three... But who doesn't? Just not many of those players out there. If you are a long athletic 4 who can shoot from downtown you're going to be a highly rated and sought after prospect
