Umm...Jim Delaney is a folk legend and hero to most Rutgers fans and alums
That's why I posted this.
I think Shack was referring to the "...or hate him..." part ;)
I think if a vote was taken, we might name the school after him.
A lot of us would love to be able to forget Tim Pernetti's tenure here. You shouldn't forget Tim Pernetti. He played a very big part.
Not really. This was in the works for a long time. You shouldn't forget Tim Pernetti. He played a very big part.
Don't bother. There's an overwhelming hate for the man who oversaw us geting the invite into the big ten. Personally he was one of my favorite AD's and for those who know how much I despise flood, it should say a lot for what he did behind the scenes. He didn't have good luck with his football and basketball hires and in the end that's what he'll be judged forYou shouldn't forget Tim Pernetti. He played a very big part.

Amazing the animosity towards him.
Well said. Most people like Tim ...he is one of us. He did some good things...but the facts were he was 0 for 2 in the hiring of major coaches and both football and men's basketball took major steps backward under the hires of his watch. Of course, he was working with limited budget and all of that....but we had a $2 million a year coach for football and it could have been done again.
And, while Tim gets credit for helping CLOSE the RU to the big ten...and that is JUST as much of a simple bottom line statement as saying he was 0 for 2 in hiring of revenue sports coaches (and both are way over simplified and the people of this forum know that)....the truth is that Rutgers to the Big ten was already WELL on the way when he took over the AD office in September of 2009...
Fwiw barchi thought 2 mil was a lot to spend on a football coach. Once we lost schiano that budget got smacked back quite a bitMost people like Tim ...he is one of us. I wish I could like this 200 times.TP's biggest mistake was hiring an idiot to save a recruiting class. NEVER, EVER sacrifice your program for a recruiting class. At worst, he should have made Flood an intrem coach and let him go after one year and hire a real coach. It still kills and saddens me that Flood completely destroyed our program in four years.
When you are hiring on the cheap you take gambles.Tim was told Rice was a lunatic by professionals in the business. He hired him anyway. Bad AD.
