To be fair, the statue probably really didn't know.
True, but I heard it's taking an unreasonably firm stance on the issue.
If they replace it, they need to make sure it's looking the other way.
They should put the statue in the same warehouse where they put the arc of the covenant.
You know this will change nothing for them.
The only minds that were changed were a small percentage of the fanbase when this all first surfaced in 2011, the few of their fans that prize humanity over football. Those people are still ashamed and the rest of them still think he did nothing wrong.

It appears the writer is a Ped State fan which is hard to believe. I have yet to run into one that admits Paterno did anything wrong.

Bill Veeck put in a machine underground near home plate that would open up and a basket would come up out of the ground to give the umpire new baseballs. Once he had them, the container would go back into the ground and the lids would close on the basket.

kjb is absolutely correct. I have lurked on BWI during some of the major developments since the original breaking of the scandal. More and more of the posters who defended Joe in the past have changed their positions entirely. But since BWI is run by a huge Joe apologist, the small but very vocal minority of absolute Paterno loyalists rules the roost over there and paint PSU fans in a terrible light.
Some of the PSU fans who post here, often times defending PSU - PSUnut, jerseylion to name a few - aren't considered loyal enough over there and are consistently ostracized or labelled trolls. It's quite surreal.
Where are they? I'm not saying you were, I know from your posts here, but I haven't seen anything showing a change.

I didn't say they all flipped and if you thought that would be the case based on what was released yesterday then you haven't been paying attention.
I know this is semantics but I have to post it. BWI gets a bad name. BWI is not the McAndrew Board. BWI is Phil, Nate, Ryan and Tim. Now, I know that no one on here (I don't think) is a member of BWI (why would you be) but the BWI guys, IMO, are top notch. Nate pretty much runs the place at this point and allows for all types of varying opinions and thoughts on all topics - including Paterno. If you keep your post on task and civil then he allows for considerable debate.
There are a lot of Paterno supporters on the BWI board and that's fine. I've actually learned a ton about the whole thing from them. Like me, they are welcome to their opinion. The beauty of that board is that you can have any opinion you like without being chastised and/or run off for having it.
Well again and again we go through this. We continually hear from the few rational state penn fans how its only a small percentage of super hardcore fans who are culty. Sorry I don't believe it. Its the majority and I think it's well over 50%. If you aren't one of them then congrats on not being brainwashed, but your disturbed fan base makes you all look very bad and is the reason why you are hated.
Its much better to be hated for being good on the field, btw.
I assure you I never claimed to be in the majority or minority. I go to numerous games per year and there are plenty of Paterno loyalists that I encounter each and every time. TBH, I haven't taken the time to go around the stadium and take a poll.
its true...im not saying I think JoePa was an evil monster who knew exactly what was going on, but I will say that it is absolutely not the right time for the statue and it should probably never be put back up. I am both a PSU and RU alum so I feel like I have a unique perspective here. Please don't generalize all penn staters theres a lot of us
The statue is never going back up. Tim Curley pleading the 5th for 168 pages of testimony pretty much assures that is the case.

I will say that you're right about this not being the right time for Penn St to even think about putting back that statue and will add: because of recent developments there should never be the right time to honor Paterno ( in any way) as far as Penn St University is concerned .
