June 2019!

Not holding my breath and that's still 3 years away from projected completion for just a practice court.

Not to mention, Hobbs already said it's more than likely a two year project. I was right on my prediction though for after the season!

Not clear to me why this would have such a long build period. The parking deck is below the facility?

Hobbs spoke at the TD Club meeting tonight and announced the hoops/wrestling/ gymnastics practice facility will DEFINITELY break ground late spring/early summer next year. The building will be complete June 2019.

2 years seems long....Rome was built in a day !!

Wait a minute--always heard, and Wikipedia confirms, Rome wasn't built in a day. June 2019 seems like a lonnnnnng way off to the mulennials on this board, but it is a mere moment for a school that is a quarter of a millennium old. Seem to remember that us freshman fencers and the varsity fencers shared practice digs with the wrestling team.

Well since it was a TD Club meeting did anybody ask about the game at Yankee Stadium?

And another thing....

They're not going to break ground this time of year. Cold weather isn't ideal for excavation.

Haha you obviously don't know how state run construction works in NJ.
He also mentioned his plans for soccer/lacrosse. As I understand it, He wants a facility built opposite the stands at Yurcak with the soccer portion facing Yurcak and the lacrosse portion facing a turf field that would be built in what is now part of the blue lot for football.

Nobody asked. If I was thinking about it, I would have.

I agree with most, not liking the idea of playing home games away from campus. Even though I don't like it, it's not going to prevent me from attending the Maryland game in The Bronx (or for that matter, the Wisconsin hoops game at MSG). I simply think it's part the price of being a B1G member.

HOME CONFERENCE games. That is the big sticking point.

I agree Mike.
And if it's "part of being a member" when do the other schools have to do this?

I remember somebody posting that idea on this forum and pointing out the UF facility that is just like that. I also remember that poster emailing Hobbs and Sarah with the idea. I guess they liked the recommendation.

UF's woman's lacrosse stadium. Soccer on the other side. Our facility would need more elevation because their locker rooms are actually behind the goals off to the left out of the picture.

It's not about the other schools. It's about us. We're the new kid in town. We'll do whatever pleases the conference. When we become fully entrenched in the B1G, say a decade from now, I'll be more concerned with whether or not we are being treated fairly.

Once a lap dog, always a lap dog.

It is a lot more than a practice court, you should head over to scarletnights.com and check out the facility.
I'm very much aware of what it is. Maybe having a bad day, I can't get overly excited about a practice facility/parking deck 3 years away from happening under the best of circumstances when the place where we actually play games is an embarrassment. If Hobbs had announced the practice facility was only projected to open in 2020 there'd probably be a revolt so can't get too excited over a June 2019 PROJECTION.

What matters is how recruits react to the new facility and the date for completion. There is no question that this facility is long overdue and will enhance the image of the basket ball teams and the other sports that will use the facility.Recruiting is tough and other schools always use negative recruiting to get the upper hand. The new coaching staff understands the challenges ahead and I'm optimistic that they give Rutgers the best chance for success in the last 20 years.

I'd rather be a lapdog than a Husky.

(UConn, that is.) [winking]
Never happen. We're in.

Not going to get get kicked out over a decision that is better for RU if we do it another way.

If this thing, the practice facility does what its supposed to do it could make the RAC "THE RAC!" again.

It is line with what Hobbs has been saying since June. It is a big building, it takes time.

I'd like to see him come out in the press and release this info.

The timeframe seems about right for a project of this size. Figure 1 year of design, 6-9 months for entitlements (permits) and 15-18 months of construction.

If Hobbs is stating three years to delivery they are (likely) very close to (really) getting started.

If Hobbs is smart you over-project and have the facilities completed in late 2018, under budget, ahead of schedule.
