Just so we know, who are we rooting AGAINST in the upcoming games remaining in B1G?

Sorry to be an a$$

Just root for Rutgers. There are only 2 events that matter
1. Rutgers does not get in BTT
2. Rutgers gets a bye

1. Rutgers controls and if we lose out end the season already
2. The odds are so small we win 3 of 3. (2 of 3 I could actually see)

OSU, Indiana and?
There are too many scenarios but right now Indiana , Nebraska , Ohio State and Rutgers have 7 wins. So it is best to root hard for RU to go 3-0 and get to 10 wins and locked into the 9th seed and the bye. If RU gets to 10 , very unlikely the other 3 do with their schedules. Now if we go 2-1 then no guarantees as anything is possible but the 9th seed and bye is very unlikely.

One game at a time.

Sure root for Rutgers but like tonight. As a fan I’d like Michigan over Nebraska. So let’s not just say ohh Rutgers. Thats all that matters ….

Tuesday I imagine… northwestern over Minnesota? Or no do we prefer northwestern to be two back of Rutgers?

Wisc over Washington
Illinois over Iowa.

Wednesday.

Indiana over penn state.
I guess osu over usc.

That’s my take.

I would think we wanted Indiana to start losing… that’s why I ask because if we get a few more good wins AND the help we need it’s a much better scenario

At this point in the season with their record I’d much rather keep teams be behind us, then to worry who we can catch up to.

The math is pretty simple if you wish for results that insure RU makes the Big 10 tournament (see my thread on the various tie-breaking scenarios):

1) The worst case is RU having 13 Big 10 losses. So ... root for Northwestern, Washington and USC to have 13 losses, or more, and Penn St to have 14 losses. PSU and Washington each have 12 losses now, and NW 11. PSU has @Indiana, home vs Maryland, @ Wisconsin - so 2 losses seem very possible, maybe even likely. If Washington loses just 1 more game, RU would win that tiebreaker (they have 4 games left, @Wisconsin, Indiana, @USC and Oregon) - so at least 1 more loss would seem likely. NW has 4 more games and currently 11 losses (@Minny, Iowa, UCLA and @Maryland) ... 1 loss would seem very likely, 2 very possible - or more.

2) If you want RU to have a better seed, rather than MERELY worry about making the Big 10 tournament, then in addition to rooting for RU to win as many of the 3 left as possible, root against USC and Minnesota, in particular (including an RU win over Minny) ... and maybe Indiana and Ohio St (though those last 2 have a tiebreaker over RU in one on one ties) ... and for a long-shot, root against Nebraska (over whom RU owns the one on one tiebreaker).

I agree that there’s nothing to root for from others at this point, but I disagree with your assessment of the only things that matter.

The auto-bid is a big long shot but I’ll still look to the BIG tournament as a fresh start - one last chance to compete. With that in mind, aside from qualifying in the first place, I’ll also be hoping for a draw that delays a match up with Maryland as long as possible. I do feel that “on any given day” we can potentially outgun most of the other teams (that’s not saying I expect us to do it 4-5 consecutive times, only that I can envision a non-zero scenerio of it happening taking each game in isolation). I flat out just dont think we have the horses to beat Maryland even at our best.

Maryland looking like might be best team in conference.
But Willard always finds away to underperform.
