A friend of mine said many years ago "the same people you screw on the way up,are the same ones you're gonna see on the way down".Brands, who teaches his wrestlers too be dirty and have no sportsmanship, and wouldn't shed a tear over any of his guys, now has a team that his slipped into 5th place at the NCAA's.For Iowa Hawkeye standards, that is a complete failure. On the other side, you got a man like Scott Goodale, with no where near the pedigree of a Brands. But,when you see a man so truthful, honest and choked up ( in his latest interview) about his wrestlers, and staff...that gets right too a persons heart. Goodale optimizes what Jersey wrestling is..passionate, and strong. As a parent, how could you not buy into his message.I think back, when Scotty Winston came, and got this program the buzz it needed,to where we are no.Yeah,we are still gonna get some criticism...but now its about how much more money we need and bigger facilities.I often wonder, how much further I would have gotten in this program if I had a Goodale as a coach.I'm not going too take away from Coach Oliver ( because he's the one who gave me a shot) or Coach Sacchi( whose gravel Joe Pesci voice still rings in my head),but he has taken these 2nd tier recruits, and turned them into believers in this program.I'm so proud of being a Scarlet Knight, past present and future.Sorry for the bullshit Hallmark Card routine on a Sunday, but I wouldn't send my kids anywhere else, than Rutgers University.

That interview by Goodale was powerful. I just hate seeing the best NJ wrestlers going away when they have an opportunity to represent their state for 4 more years. I really believe our program has turned the corner thanks to the coaching staff and all those kids like Winston, Melde, Langal, Russo, Rinaldi, B. Ash, etc. who came to this program believing in the coaching staff and wanting make a difference, and they should be very proud!

Tremendous post Creedo! I played baeball at Rutgers years ago and feel exactly like you do and 2 of my 3 kids went to Rutgers and my daughter would have walked on in field hockey if the coach showed a little more interest. It is a great place that can and will get better. As new basketball Coach Pikiell said yesterday, this place is going to explode.

Rutgers36..my pleasure my man..As a fellow Scarlet knight,I am so optimistic where this school is headed.Pat Hobbs is "aces" in my book.He brought Pikiell, who has the same "blue collar" sincere approach too the human side of sports.

Nice post. I played golf for this University well over 50 + years ago and this University has got it going with Hobbs, Ash, Steve P and Goodale and staff. Just wait as we see RU elevated to levels we have never seen. Buckle up for the ride!
