According to the April 2, 1926 Daily Home News, the Rutgers baseball team arrived in Washington, D.C. that morning to begin their Southern trip schedule. Footballers Bus Terrill, Adin Fox, Greg Hibbs and Frenchy Hauf were among 13 baseball team members and three others who had a 10:15 am appointment to meet the 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge. A cabinet meeting forced a postponement to 12:30 pm, “… but the team had a 12:02 pm train to Quantico, VA to play the U.S. Marines that afternoon.” They did manage to see the White House along with the Washington Monument. An article penned by team member Harold Quad in the April 12, 1926 Daily Home News said, “When we left the White House grounds, we passed by the side wing of the building and saw Mrs. Coolidge in an upstairs window with her beautiful white collie. A few of us waved to her and the President’s wife smilingly inclined her head in response.”
