And if you can commit to making that same donation every year for five years, do it by pledge! RU can borrow against that five year pledge. If you are not sure of an amount, do a minimum amount for the five year pledge...you can ALWAYS give more at any given time. The key is to donate and commit to a pledge.

Exciting times here on the banks...let's do our part! We can do this!

Go RU!!!!

Hahaha...an RU pledge would have probably been cheaper and less of a headache! Although you can't cuddle up to that...

Go RU!

Basically, if you are giving annually to RU anyway, why not just commit to a 3 or 5 year pledge? It'll help RU reach its goals more quickly. You still get priority points. It's a win win situation.

This is important to clarify when making any pledges, whether it's monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual payments. In order to get "FULL priority point credit for Football", you may want to make sure all pledge payments are completed on or before April 30th for that given fiscal year ending June 30th. For example, if you're making monthly payments, you'd have to call RU and made advance payments for May & June by the April 30th deadline to get FULL Football point credit for the May and/or June pledges. Otherwise, you'd lose those points for May & June for certain Football allocations that are based on priority points, such as parking, an upgrade to your Football season ticket location, if applicable, and ability to purchase additional Football regular season or single tickets, if applicable. Remember, these Football allocations are all based on "priority point cut offs" which are only an issue for people on the cusp of those cut offs. Either way, I would want my full allocation of points if I made a pledge! It's something RU needs to figure out for those who pledge on an annual, "reoccurring" basis. I do make my pledge payments on set future dates, all before April 30th.

The following, with regard to Giving & Priority Points, was taken directly from the RU website:

Annual Athletic Gift(s)/Pledge(s) - Gifts and pledges made to any Rutgers Athletics fund between July 1and June 30, which represents the start and end of the Rutgers Foundation Fiscal Year. One point per every $100.*Note that to count towards Football priority points, gifts must be made between July 1 and April 30. Any gifts made after April 30 and before July 1 will count towards Men's and Women's Basketball seating and parking, as well as any Football and Basketball post season tickets.

Lifetime University Giving - The cumulative total of all gifts (Academic and Athletics) you have made to Rutgers University, as recognized by the Rutgers University Foundation. One point per every $1,000.

NEW! Consecutive Years of Giving - The number of consecutive years of giving to R Fund. Two points for each consecutive year of giving. These points, which reward donors for renewing their gifts annually, revert to zero if a year of giving is missed. Points will not be credited for retroactive athletic giving prior to the launch of R Fund on July 1, 2014. All supporters who donate between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015 will be credited with 1 year of giving and 2 priority points at the beginning of the new fiscal year on July 1, 2015. These priority points will count towards 2016 Football, 2016-2017 Men's Basketball, and 2016-2017 Women's Basketball.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info Diane. The bolded part is what has deterred me from making a monthly pledge. So that is still an issue? I wouldn't so much care if May & June were applied to the priority point total for the next year but having those 2 months fall into the abyss with respect to football priority points is ridiculous. Hobbs seems to be solving a lot of other (admittedly bigger) problems so hopefully he'll get around to this one eventually.

The news today that the campaign is making progress might help motivate a new crop of donors, plus it might motivate those who have already made donations. I know it made a difference for me as I posted another (albeit small) donation. It's encouraging after the lack of success the last time Jon Corzine tried to jumpstart an athletics fundraising campaign.

Unfortunately, for some of us, we don't get company matches for athletics. So while I'm "forced" to donate a few thousand a year for our seats and to have enough PP's to be in yellow, beyond that, honestly, my money is far better spent being donated to the University Foundation (and my old dept.), which is matched by my company. I will donate some to this initiative, but much less than I would if I had a company match...

Donate. Whatever you can, to whatever area of the university you want.

It is the easiest way to move the needle on everything.

Are you sure about this? It is still the RU FUND. I dont believe you need to specify if this is the Athletic Fund or Presidents fund etc.
