I remember when Arkansas followed suit and recruited Jon Brittenum to play. Many fans from schools in Texas called us the Razorblacks. Racism was alive and well back then and, unfortunately, still has a heartbeat today. Progress is slow, but cannot be stopped .
BTW, Bear Bryant was from a little community near Fordyce, Arkansas. He was on his way to be the next coach at Arkansas. But, while driving to accept the head coaching position at Arkansas, he heard on the radio that Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor. He turned around.
