Let's be realistic: When do you fire Flood?

Lets be realistic here. On the field we are 2-2 and at best will be 4-6 after the Nebraska game. It is also very possible that RU will be 2-8 or 3-7 after the Nebraska game. If it is the latter, do you wait until the end of the season to fire Flood or do you give yourself a head start at finding a new HC and have a better chance of keeping the '16 class together?

They'll let him go after the season. I don't think there's any chance that he returns.

Do we really need a fire Flood post every hour? If you want to be realistic, flood is not getting fired because of anything we do on the field this year no matter how much you wish it. I think you need help.

So with missing our top two players, three new offensive linemen, and a new quarterback, we roll up 513 yards and beat a team by 13 when we were favored be 12.5. If not for s couple of penalties and a missed FG, we win by +23. I would like to see an exciting offense, but maybe playing it safe was the right move. They couldn't stop the run, so why risk the three and outs.

It will be during the bye week I promise you one of the blocks has already fallen

If you can't pass against a team like Kansas you won't be able to pass against anyone. Let's face it, this was a glorified scrimmage. We should have taken advantage of it by either giving Rettig some action or giving Laviano some passing plays.

Yes, we ran through them. And if you are so afraid of losing the game maybe that's the gameplan you set up, but if you're trying to win additional games this season... maybe you should try adding a passing game. They took the ball out of the QB's hands for the second half. That doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

Coach Flood has done some very good things for Rutgers football. Let's see how he finishes this season before pulling the plug prematurely.
PREMATURELY??? Can't coach, can't recruit, can't control his players, can't control himself. What more do you need to see?

It will be during the bye week I promise you one of the blocks has already fallen
Don't you dare tease us like that...

certainly hope this is only a hunch that you have - not that I'm wanting to retain Flood - but just can't imagine any scenario where Flood gets walked in the next 2 weeks that is not another painful ugly stinking mess for Rutgers.

If Flood does not get fired this season or next we will see a major dumpster fire again next year. The RU Administration will be the laughing stock of college football.. Fans disguised as empty seats will be the norm at HPSS.

Unless something happens we don't currently know about, there is zero reason not to finish out the season with Flood. What is gained?

On the other hand, I think his only hope of staying is an incredible turnaround and a 6-6 or better season, looking good in our games. Don't think that will happen. I think it could, but don't think it will.

LOL

Funny this week it was safe did you watch the past two weeks it was the same baloney...o line is horrible, d has no pressure, QB play is atrocious, specials are awful...

See the open the playbook argument only works when there is variation and the suck has never varied.

After the season ends if he fails to get to 5 wins. If he gets to 5-7 or better, only if you have the ability to hire a clear upgrade.

I swear many of you are completely delusional. Rutgers has had one year where we finished ranked. One - and we didn't even win the basketball conference we were in. Two years later Schiano had us missing a bowl with 4 wins. Some of you wanted him gone too though no one remembers that now. He dumped us like yesterdays newspaper as soon as he got something better and took most of our best coaches with him. So much for looking out for us. Flood was stuck with no coaches, no real money and no support from most of you and all he did was win. Took us to a bowl or two, in case any of you stopped watching the games because we got stuck with him. His first year in a real football conference and he is bowling. He hired good young coaches and recruiters. He brought in the Fridge. He brought in EJ and recruiting has changed it's face. Young, fresh, modern, social media, outstanding graphics, themes, new dieas - hell you all even complain about the uniforms the kids love so much. Give me the old rags we used to wear. Bring back Schiano even though Flood is giving us the same results. We have a really good class of recruits this year. Flood has done a great job in building upon what Schiano started but you all want more. You all think we will bring in Harbaugh and blink, we will be ranked and undefeated and feared throughout the land. It will all just happen, with no work and no pain, no chop. In a time when the students and the program need you, you sit in front of your computer and you whine and complain and you cry, like the 10 year with the Madden team that regrets ever having drafted Peyton. We gain 500 yards, win and you complain we didn't win by more. It will take years of hard work, sacrifice and commitment for us to achieve what Ohio State has, what Penn State has...what you want. If we don't stand up for ourselves and support our team and our coach when we stumble, when the people that want us to fail have scored a point, we will never succeed. If Rutgers fires Flood for what's happened so far, you can write off at least the next two years for sure. None of these recruits will trust this school. The players, the recruits, and most of the fans love what Flood's been doing. They all hate the stupidity. Go ahead, support the stupidity for some Madden like satisfaction. No one we hire will fix what we did to Flood, the one man who fought for his players and was building a true program to be proud of. You all act like we deserve to be Ohio State or Penn State. We don't. We can work for it and earn it but even Ohio State money will not buy what you want. We need to build this program from the ground up. We need to get the administration on board. Supporting their agenda, the agenda of the union, the media, will never get us anything more than what we have now. Flood has done nothing that deserves this nonsense. I'm tired of all this instant gratification, judgmental, and dysfunctional behavior on this board. Flood is our coach and we should support him until he's not.

December 6th. That is the day after the season ends. Won't be a day sooner or a day later.

"If Rutgers fires Flood for what's happened so far, you can write off at least the next two years for sure. None of these recruits will trust this school."

So, in other words, keep Flood to save the recruiting class... where have we heard that one before?

LOLLLLL

Schiano beat way more than 4 teams with a winning record.

Schiano never engaged in academic fraud.

Schiano never had 7 players arrested.

Most of the fans do not support Flood. Did you hear the boos? Every poll on this board has shown overwhelming majorities want him gone.

Most of the recruits do not support Flood.

Oh wait, do you mean the recruits from NJ who went TTFP but want Flood to stay so James Franklin can beat a B1G team other than Indiana?

Mrs. Flood, I wish you all the best as your husband becomes an assistant at Monmouth. The shore is lovely in the fall.

Recruiting has changed? No. I like our recruiting class, but we have zero pull with the NJ guys. Someone explain to me has Schiano landed Anthony Davis and Savon Huggins (after a 4 win season) but Flood can't land a top ten NJ recruit? I didn't mind that at first, but this is truly mind boggling after an 8-5 season. Again, I love the out of state recruiting, but we're getting our butts whooped in NJ

Academic fraud - yeah right - he talked to a teacher, a ridiculous policy in a school run by a union. Was that you?
Recruits do not support flood? yeah write - read their twitters, read their commitments, or are you somewhat confused by the voices in your head who tell you Flood is bad...
And yes, Schiano got lucky that Ray didn't do what he did when he was playing and Britt...really, you judge people for the actions of others...
at least we both agree that the shore is beautiful in the fall .... we have that ...

I disagree. I can't imagine a situation where firing Flood is more of a circus that the last month has been. There is a good chance the rest of the season is a mess not matter what. His suspension was the end. The only question is how long he is left to hang on. I actually think it creates more damage to keep him any longer than is absolutely necessary. And while we aren't hiring anyone permanent until after the season, it gives us a 2 month head start on everyone to work behind the scenes for the next coach.

New Jersey Recruits do not support Flood nor do they see their future playing for him.
He has totally lost control of the Program and your BS spinning won't change that.

Only a new Coach and Staff can return RU football to respectability.

Return is a strong word. How about get us there

He and Julie are gone this week. Sit tight and program will have major changes .

Agree with Rudge22, we have never been strong in-state.

Not that is a huge issue IMOP...focus regions should be:
1) Tri-state Area
2) Big Ten Region
3) Nationally

People are overly fixated on NJ.

We will have to disagree - but I think we are looking at this entirely differently .

I'm starting with the assumption that we take Barchi & Co at face value and that punishments delivered make the email & contact now a closed matter. Kind of figure that Barchi , after having levied the 3 game suspension & $50 K fine calling the matter closed - is unlikely to turn around and say " on second thought we are still highly displeased so, we now want to terminate you"

Accordingly, for Flood to suddenly now get "walked" it would seem that there would need to be new & highly troubling matters to emerge in order to initiate a revisit of the termination question.... and this is the scenario that I would dread - some set of new heinous transgressions that further embarrass Rutgers - something so compromising that it would call for immediate removal.

it'll be interesting to see where these flood supporters hide after we have to face ohio state and michigan state. hopefully he's gone before then.
