Maryland-Northwestern headed to OT

missed free throws killing Northwestern....58-56 MD 44 seconds left

ncaa type war

It was partially by design. Maryland was fouling Van Zegeren whenever they could because he's not a very good foul shooter.

NU was tough this time, that could easily have been a Terp loss...

Northwestern needs a 2 guard...not excited about Demps. Crazy how NW ditched us and now hangs out with the cool teams.

and Olah has been hurt too. Nice bounce back from that bad loss to Penn State but its a loss nonetheless and they have just 1 top 100 rpi with (Wisky). They started getting better the 2nd half of last year

Stat of the game: Maryland scored 14 points in five minutes of overtime and 17 points in the second half.

So ... very good teams lose ONE or maybe TWO important players, and start losing. But some feel that when RU loses FOUR players, all contributors, all on RU's frontcourt, and some posters think RU should be much more competitive.

When a team loses 1, or even 2, key players, it has a very negative impact. When even more key players start getting hurt, the cumulative effect can be HUGE ... a compounding effect, even.

I cannot feel sorry for these teams like Duke that lose one player. No one feels sorry for us after we lost 4 players and now have Lewis reduced to no more than 20 minutes a game. We have like no one to play the back line or to take fouls. I have watched college B-Ball since the 50's and have never seen a college team with injuries like we have suffered but the bashers just still keep bashing us. Somehow they think guards should be able to guard centers and forwards that are 8 inches taller than themselves. These people seem like they've never played the game.

C'mon bro. Losing is one thing... Losing by 30 or 50 is something different. Have a little pride, sir.
But I get it, no matter how low we go someone is always going to defend it or spin it.

I agree. This is especially true when you then have too few players to run a competitive practice. Right now RU has only 6 healthy scholarship players plus Lewis who is limited by a knee injury. So, not only are games adversely impacted but so is practice.

I wish we could lose our two best players and hang with ranked teams on their own court. Give me a break.

There is no question that the injuries have negatively impacted the team. At the same time even with all the players healthy I doubt if Rutgers would win 3 B1G games.

How was the Indiana game competitive? Laurent played but we lost in last minute of game and Indiana is undefeated in conference.
