Need Quick Suggestions: Charleston SC Restaurants

I'm heading there in a few weeks...so suggestions of any type are welcome. Savannah also.

I was hoping to hear from the esteemed Mrs. Screw on this, although other contributions are welcome too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks!

Esteemed? You flatter me. But seriously Prohibition was awesome. Have the grits!

My wife and I dropped by Prohibition during our trip to Charleston last month and decided not to stay for dinner. A short menu list of entrees and a place that was basically a dive bar with a bunch of closely spaced small tables in a narrow corridor of a space on King St. I walked in expecting to stay for dinner and walked out looking for another location. Ended up at the King St Grill that was just OK. All the big name restaurants were sold out weeks before.

Think of Mustang Sally's in NYC with a lot more expensive menu. My advice is that Prohibition in Charleston has now jumped the shark.

Coast Barr & Grill 39 John St. diagonally across from the visitor & transportation center.

Great bar with excellent wood grilled seafood. My wife and I liked it so much we ate there 3 times when we were in Charleston last April.

That's a bummer. We had a great meal there & enjoyed the fun atmosphere. I guess a year makes a lot of difference in this case.

Just went to Prohibition a couple weeks ago with my wife and daughter for lunch. Food was very good and reasonable. Grits were great, would definitely get them as a meal or appitizer with the fried green tomatoes. The fish and chips had their own twist to them and would get them again. Hopefully you picked a good place.
