My personal "love to hate" -- going back decades:

• Boston College -- the point shaving scandals in the 70s and then they had some other issues in the early 90s along with Glenn Foley being Glenn Foley. Acting like Miami's lapdog in the first Big East breakup didn't sit well with me either.
• Syracuse -- fanbase permanently stuck in 1959 with a holier than though attitude
• State Penn -- while I enjoy tailgating with a bunch of Nitwits, I personally don't revere one St. Joseph Francis Paterno. Their first exit from the Eastern 8 left a little to be desired (if the stories are true -- a note slipped under the door at the basketball tournament). Shouldn't have built a statue to JoePa while he was still alive -- that was creepy. And here we are, back together again. I'm convinced McQuery was running the score up on his own and Paterno was "not amused".
• UConn -- while we were both playing BE football it was a fun love to hate rivalry but was prematurely cut off by the collapse of the Big East
• Michigan -- WTF was going on in their athletic department the last 20 years? Player fights in tunnels, the cheating under Harbaugh, the gymnastics issues?

No real love/hate for any of the other Big 10 teams though. It sucks that the majority of my "love to hate" teams are teams we don't play anymore.

Syracuse---how can a team in a weakass conference (see the ACC bowl record) that has been dominated for two decades by RUTGERS, a program that they have a 500 page long thread on their forums devoted to talking about think they are even remotely close to national relevance??? And that city is a pit. I had two clients there for a couple of days and stopped on a vacation another time. They think Dinosaur Barbeque is a destination restaurant. On a summer night there in 2019 there were sirens going all night.
4. BC---Fredo. "I can handle things. I'm smart, not like people say I am, like dumb." Now they are in the 3rd or 4th best P4 conference and in a downward spiral. Couldn't happen to two more deserving Big East teams.

I understand Joe Knew, I’m not defending Penn state in any capacity. I’m stating that when it comes to child abusers being harbored by an institution, there is no worse example in this country than that Catholic Church.

What this boils down to for me is 5-10 kids getting abused as compared to THOUSANDS of kids being abused.

I have a high school junior who is looking at schools - I told her that she is forbidden from PSU. She (being a kid and not knowing the history) thought it was a “rivalry” thing. I told her the actual reason and told her that PSU would never get a dime of my $.

Raising her right. I’ve said the same to all my kids, I’ll pay for your college unless you go to PSU.

My take is there is a fair amount of anti-Christianity on this board - things said that if were against another religion would be immediately removed, although this is not unique to this board, and envy of their national following and success, and they money they receive as an independent. People may have other reasons, don't know.

I do remember being annoyed when at the RU ND game in 2000, there was car with NJ Legislative plates and a guy gets out with a ND hat, pretty sure it was Walter Kavanaugh. He was a ND grad but thought he should have been low key as he represented NJ in the Senate.
