So ... here are some names who might fit RU's needs (understanding I know nothing besides what I see in the stats - which I get from sports-reference.com) a lot of very low performers, low-end, tough to project player so far ... but some interesting names, maybe:

1) Rashad King - 6'6" G/WF from Northeastern in the CAA - 18+ ppg, 32% 3-point shooter last year, 85% FT (on 5 FT's per game), 6 rpg, 3.3 ass/g, 2.7 TO/g, 1.4 stl/g

2) Andrew Rohde - 6'6" UVA WF - OK scorer (only 9 ppg, did shoot 41% from 3 this past year (his JR year) after 26% the prior year.

3) Corey Chest - 6'8" 210 rising SO from LSU - 20 mpg as a frosh this past year, 6 ppg,. 6.6 rpg, 1.2 blocks/g - 60% FG (all inside - not outside or even mid-range game I would guess) ... I presume an athletic, defensive-minded fierce rebounder at 6'8".

4) Isaac McNeeley - here's the UVA player you want, if any ... 6'4" 2G (1-year left), 42% 3-point shooter this past year, 14 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2-1 ass/TO ratio, 42% career 3-point shooter over 3 years ... probably a perfect supplemental piece to a Top 10-15 team, though - a sniper off the bench. A starter for a team like RU. And steeped in UVA's defensive philosophy, even if only an okay defender.

5) Joson Sanon - 6'5" G from Arizona St - rising SO, averaged 12 ppg with 37% 3-point shooting as a FR ... probably will be chased hard by a lot of teams.

There are others, all with pluses and minuses - and will be MANY more ... Tae Davis (6'9" F from ND, had been 1 year at SHU - can score, but not a 3-point shooter, nor much of a defender), Elijah Moore - 6'4" G from Syracuse - a rising SO, was a top 100 player - less accomplishment than his teammate the Forward Chir Bell - but might have more upside, and more years).

I have watched Mcneeley he is very similar to Spencer in ability. He will be a great addition to a team with a good inside game

i think were going to drive ourselves crazy tracking these lists

last year we got basically none of the guys we were targeting initially or that had any reputation with the general public

youre more likely to see us bring in a lot of PIKE guys that defend, rebound and dont light up the stat sheet and hope for the best

I agree about driving ourselves nuts - I have no idea how long or often I will update this.

But I disagree with your 2nd sentence ...unfortunately, RU DID get one of its 1st choices: Martini was clearly Pikiell's top choice, as he was talked to the 1st day or 2 he was in the portal, and met very, very fast and signed pretty quickly also. And I think Derkack was pretty high on Pikiell's list as well. The problem with those signings was the players did not come close to meeting Pikiell's expectations, or providing what the team needed. Pikiell DID miss on most of his "3 and D" targets, and on the post players. I do not know where Acuff was slotted ... I know RU was on him early, but did not officially sign him until much later (was that because there was competition for him, or because RU was waiting on some other players more complete players, "3 and D" players?).

For Rutgers poor defense or offense has the same negative result in the won/loss record.

From everything we hear, RU can't afford a major school transfer
Honest question here because I don't know, but what did Ace and Dylan get in NIL from Rutgers? I assume it wasn't cheap?

Shouldn't them coming "off our books" open up $$ for others?

Their main NIL came from private endorsements not affiliated with RU or RU’s NIL collectives. Not sure if our school’s fund threw them extra to sweeten the deal, but I don’t think they did.

Just going to ignore @Joey Bags response?
Pretty much 😂

Really though, that is good to know. He also followed it up by saying he was unsure how much came from Rutgers, and then someone else said that nobody knows.

My overall point is that we just landed two (albeit high school) players that nobody thought we could using some sort of NIL funds. I don't know how we can confidently say we can't afford anyone moving forward.

Another thing, we got NIL for playing in Vegas, right? Where does that factor in here?

There are more sources out there including Brian Fonseca and the pod on here and data we have shared on here regarding overall NIL budget that’s been released within the big 10 that indicate we are a bottom feeder team financially

Most indicate we don’t have the horses aka $$$ to compete in the portal with the top teams but I think a lot of people on here want to believe the RU collective contributed to ace and Dylan create belief that we have the money right now to win if spent more intelligently in their opinion

I think we will find out more THIS offseason and next basketball season how bleak or promising the situation actually is

It doesn’t matter. We know for sure we don’t have zero. St Joes was able to afford Derek, for example. There are players who didn’t have great years for major conference teams and are looking for a change that we could land. The will not be perfect players. We need guys who like defense and not in a zone system. The mid-major kids with profiles that fit Pike’s program specs on D will probably cost too much. We need to land some solid utility defenders from major conference teams who are unhappy with their PT.

Again if you read my main point I think we will get a better sense of what we’re up against and what the programs outlook is this year in this era when we don’t have the one off lottery picks and actually create a roster out of what we can put together ourselves

I’m willing to be in wait and see mode and come back next march with more data to support whether we’re in trouble in the big 10 or have reason for optimism in both sports

Look up Scarlet asset management - I do not believe we are as poor and lacking resources as some on here state. Additionally - my understanding is Ace and Dylan were wholly paid from corporate sources and not from our collectives.
