No. 4 Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Hosted Penn State in Regular Season Finale / Saturday 4pm

Really great hanging with you and your wonderful family. I’m going to miss seeing Bren on the field. I love all the guys but there is a handful of kids that are special and he’s definitely one. Just an outstanding young man for those who don’t know him. While I will miss seeing him on the field, and we will, I’m super happy to have him on the other side of the lax family. He will be successful in everything he does. It’s great to be able to watch life unfold too. It doesn’t stop after they take off the uniform.

But, we have more of this ride left first. 12-2 is absolutely monumental. Couldn’t be more proud. Let’s see how far we can take this. Go Knights!

Not for nothing, but if I’m a PLL team, I’m taking a long hard look at Bren. Skills are exactly what you need in that league.
Kind words

Focus now is on beating OSU or UM

After that a run to Championship weekend

All games are tough but the juice gets amped up now as we approach May

No calls from the PLL yet...I admit I’m a bit surprised as he’s the type of two way player that league uses....but it’s for the very very chosen few...life will still be great if that call never comes

Caliknight, just from reading your posts over the years, I get the sense that RU lax player alums are a very loyal, active, and supportive group. I think Brennan and the rest of this year's seniors are going to fit right in.
It’s a special thing to be a part of. Coach Hayes was very big on you always being part of this family. When you stop playing your responsibilities change but it’s something you are a part of forever. It spans different generations which is one of my favorite things. Brian has really understood this and has continued this legacy. Im just truly happy to be in it.

No matter the RU sport it seems we crap the bed against PSU even when we are favored to win. I guarantee next the time we defeat PSU in football will end the jinx in all others. What are we now 33 years and counting yeeesh.

We won yesterday...what are you talking about? The only sports PSU legitimately owns us in are football, wrestling, and volleyball. We hold our ground vs PSU in everything else.

Yesterday apparently set an attendance record. With the success the team is having in the Big Ten coupled with the growth of the sport I am going to make an easy prediction that an attendance record will be reset multiple times in the not too distant future. I bought over 40 kids and parents to their first ever game yesterday and after that ending I KNOW Rutgers made more fans. The bang for your buck at a lax game of 10 bucks and free parking is unparalleled. Shoot it’s cheaper than a movie.

Did not see a final score but by the last postings I saw around 4:30 pm it appeared we were on the down. However that said … I was not only referring to M Lax but MBB, Football, MBB . As another said earlier too many thin skinned people on this board .

We more than hold our own. The all time record against them in lacrosse is like 45-25 or something. We own them.

Bob is misinformed at best. Didn’t even know we won lol.

Was hoping to run into you. It’s the best show in town for $10 bucks. Glad they enjoyed themselves! What a first game to see.

Had you mentioned that prior to the game I would not have hesitated to offer you beers and eats at our tailgate. Glad you enjoyed your weekend back in NJ

Wanted to pull out all the stops yesterday and make the day memorable for my 14 year old son. I brought him to Scarlet Fever and the book store pregame for some lax swag. Once inside I quickly remembered that 99% of the gear was generic and not sport specific. I purchased him a nice thick red sweatshirt and will probably have his sister Cricut some badass lax logo onto it lol.

Watching Ohio State- Michigan now. It's 9-6 Ohio State at halftime. Buckeyes are the better team but every time it seems they're ready to pull away, Michigan fights back. Theyre a scrappy bunch, they did the same to us two weeks ago. The bottom two teams in the league are playing good lacrosse right now. I would have to say the team that really looks the worst right now is Hopkins.

Watching as well. Question for golfer/mdk/Cali/Family......OSU dropping into a 1-3-2 zone. What are the strengths and weakness of that? What's the best way to attack it?

They play each other again next Saturday in the Big Ten tournament. I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio State plans to show them a completely different look next weekend

I doubt OSU is worried about next week. They are a bubble team and a loss to Michigan will kill their RPI. They need to win this game and then worry about next week.

I would have to see it. I can’t really recall ever seeing that formation. Seems like it would leave tremendous holes up top. General rule of thumb is the way to beat any zone is through ball movement and cutting inside. Something has to give. Playing zone for 80 seconds is tough.

Ivy probably wishes they had our Tourney setup as they have 6 teams with NCAA Tourney aspirations and only a 4 team Ivy Tourney. Only potential bid thief I can see is from the BE if someone like Denver or Nova knocks off Georgetown. That might actually help us get out of the 4/5 line and into the 3 or even 2 line and dodge Maryland should we take care of business in the B1G Semis, hopefully vs OSU.

Yeah they did. Makes a degree of sense as Brown has been a 1 on 1 problem the last half of the season and Zawada is more a finisher than QB. And Michigan eventually adjusted with cutters inside (per Calis comment), got a couple and OSU went back to man to man.

What Michigan couldn't do is handle Reid and Myers.

I'm sure the ACC is happy with the set up.

let's just hope they don't get another huge win in the Big Ten semis 😬😬
We're in at this point even with a loss to OSU in the B1G Semis. If we lose we likely will be on the road for Round 1. A win in the Semis locks up a home field Round 1 game for us.

One possible thing that no one has possibly discussed about RU potentially being home for Round 1: RU Graduation is at the football field on Sunday, 5/15. Could Hobbs/Brecht/Holloway, etc dictate to the NCAA for a home Saturday game at like noon or like 2 pm so that as soon as the game is over, the grounds crew can go in and prepare the stadium for graduation for the next day?

I want another shot at Maryland in the Big Ten finals. Guarantee we will be more competitive than last time. And the farther into the game we keep it close, all the pressure is on Maryland

No pressure on Maryland. Who are they going to seed in front of them, Virginia?

Not sure if they showed it on the broadcast but President Holloway was on the sidelines and very into the game. That’s a great sign for lacrosse and sports overall at the school. I had a quick chat with him. He’s definitely all in.
He was at a baseball game recently as well. He also caught a punt at the Spring Game. Best President for athletics RU has had.

Not sure if it’s known but he’s the cousin of RU great laxer Jules Heningburg who was also there yesterday.

Noticed the same thing. When winning time came, we came alive.

On a side note. I can’t say much but I saw the plans for a new lax only stadium among other capital improvements. We really need to get this done.

Let's build this new lacrosse stadium and NOT take away game day football parking. The Yellow and Blue lots are great and much needed spacing for cars and the gameday atmosphere.

They mentioned OSU's new lacrosse stadium several times during last night's broadcast. I assume it opens next season. They had an impressive crowd for their game last night. Almost as big as RU's. It's important that RU funds our lacrosse programs. They have earned it.

I hope Coach Brecht has the team focused on getting to the championship game in the first place, based on the recent tight games that his team has pulled out in the end. The B1G needs to have both Rutgers and Maryland in the conference finals, since they are the two teams with a shot at a high tournament seed...

Maryland is locked in as the top seed regardless of B1G tourney result. We’re in regardless but a win likely gets us a top 4 seed and a home game. Should we somehow manage to win the B1G tourney it is a good chance Maryland and us would be 1-2. If OSU wins next week they are in. If they make it to the Conf finals they could be in line for a seed as well. If they lose next week they are on the bubble but likely on the good side due to wins over the “right” teams.

It's impossible to build a lacrosse stadium and not have it effect parking. But parking has been taken into the equation and loss mitigation will be dealt with as best as possible.

The lacrosse teams needs a stadium. Especially with Schiano being such a football nazi. Man, it would all be so much better if he got what other coach's do. But, get lax out of the stadium and no one in the program will have to deal with him again.

If you love Rutgers lax, donate what you can when the time comes. To get this stadium the way you would want it, it's going to come with a price tag of $40-$45MM

Only in NJ will a lacrosse stadium cost that much……unions, graft and overruns will do that. How about build it on one of the rec fields across from Werblin Swimming and Diving facility, in the middle of the sports complex but would not take away from parking?

I don't want to give too much information away but that doesn't work. It needs to be as close to Rodkin as possible and easily viewable from the complex.

And yea, it's crazy the costs in NJ. "Prevailing wage" means taking it where the sun doesn't shine.

In many other states that same facility would probably cost $25MM or less.

Needs to be right by Rodkin. That place is the show piece of the sports facility and the team is housed there. It’s not ideal right now having lockerooms in Rodkin and games over at SHI...it’s clunky on game day for the guys. Build it right next too Rodkin.

The site will be the blue lot across the parking lot. Game day lockers there. Easily viewable from the balcony at Rodkin and will look impressive to recruits. Guys can access it easily.
