No. 4 Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse Hosted Penn State in Regular Season Finale / Saturday 4pm

Incredible game. Penn St. played tough, but Rutgers just had too much fight for them to handle.

Are you referring to the ACC mob?

Unless you have a surprise AQ from the Big 10 Maryland (no shit), Rutgers & Ohio St. are in. The Baltimore Mafia can't stick it to the Buckeyes because of their wins over UNC & Notre Dame. I think the worst they can do to Rutgers is make them travel long distance if they lose in the Big 10 semis. After today they have their sights on screwing the Ivies. All the talk about the Ivies getting 5 it was never realistic. Their goal now is to limit them to 3 and, if next week is upset city, to 2. That way they could get 4 ACC teams in.

Why should we have to travel if we are #3 hence one of the top seeds in the NCAA?

Maryland is toying with Hopkins. I can't remember a #1 that has this degree of separation from #2-5.

Paging @MrsScrew Any news from the heavenly realm?

between men's and women's LAX today, at least a couple of angels got their wings!

What an amazing win. PS was really pumped for this game and their defensive effort looked really good. Refs stole at least 1 possession from us.

Couple of things were confirmed in this game... Scott truly excels under pressure. And #2 is a defensive liability. I guess Brecht has decided his other attributes are decisive.

Maryland is sick, it will take 1980 USA vs USSR effort to beat them.
Incredibly, someone could knock them off in the tournament…it’s called elite level sports.

With Princeton going down, we should be #3 in the last regular season polls. If we win the B1G Semis, hopefully we do enough to not have to see Maryland before the NC Game.

Come on, you're better than that. Get a grip and stop the personal attacks against our head coach. Brecht can't go out there and play D or take better shots. Just sucks that we're playing so poorly and it's against PSU. We'll now have to make the B1G finals if this score holdsn

He’s not better than this

A hot goalie like Craig. Definately.

Couple of things.

1) special thanks to Pat and the staff. The celebration of life for Coach Hayes was incredibly well done. Lotta tears and a lotta laughs in that room.

2) The team really had to harness some crazy energy. There was so much going on around the game. When it became winning time, the team was incredibly focused.

3) Hats off to PSU. They had nothing to lose and they have talent. They are vastly different than the team I saw earlier in the year. They gave it all they had and then some. You have to respect that.

4) I can’t think of a better game I’ve seen. OSU 5 years ago comes to mind when we won in similar fashion. Either way, it was just incredible. To win that way, in front of so many people and alums, it goes to show the character and resolve of these kids. I’m really in awe. Watching at the field level is just so different. The size and speed at which these guys move is really astounding.

All in all what an incredibly enjoyable win. You have to go through games like this to harden resolve. You really couldn’t have drew it up any better. Coach Hayes sure was smiling down on this one. Princeton and Penn St. winning those games brought him so much joy.

As to individual performances, really too many to list but you have to recognize Ross Scott. After throwing the ball away he took it upon himself to close that game out. All world type play.

Tired, hungover. and heading back to LA with a huge smile. Just an incredible weekend.

I wouldn’t not only be shocked, I’d put money on it. Hopkins is reeling.

I didn’t see PSU Yale but yesterday was the best they have played that I have seen. They got a couple of their guys back which helped. They have been recruiting well. There is definitely talent on that team.

That was a very physical, well played game yesterday. A few hiccups but it was extremely high level lacrosse. The sport has never been better.

12-2. 4-1.

congrats to Rutgers nation. What a win! Team was pressing, down 3 in Q4. Got stops, made plays, won a game that was not looking good.

What a great night!!!!

That’s all I git

Enjoy it.
You'll like watching the replay on the B1G. They made mention of who scored the game winner for Loyola and later the announcer who was born and raised in Michigan commented on how many Kamish family members attended the win @ Michigan last week.

Not sure if they showed it on the broadcast but President Holloway was on the sidelines and very into the game. That’s a great sign for lacrosse and sports overall at the school. I had a quick chat with him. He’s definitely all in.

Penn St, got very good goalie play yesterday but got GREAT goalie play against Yale. Funny thing is it was different goalies.

Athletically Penn St. is well ahead of Hopkins and with the return of some their injured experience should beat them.

Agreed. Penn State is hitting their stride I think. Hopkins better hope their recruiting brings in size. That team looks like a bunch of midgets.

As long as RU doesn’t get annihilated in the semis … team is in!

It was an incredible day. One of the best days (athletically related) that we’ve ever had the opportunity to participate in...just a great night

The alumni support of this program is impressive. The people we talked with on the field after, had the opportunity to talk with coach Hayes daughter (wonderful person) as she came up and hugged 44 after the game

And I’m afraid to say I’m as tired and as hung over as @Caliknight in part because I was with him and his bride for a bit last night...lots of fun 😄😉

Safe travels back to LA

Again congrats to Rutgers, the staff, the team and the people that support this program. Let’s see where the next few weeks take us

As yesterday showed, every team has guys, every team can play...the margin for error is thin. Going 12-2 is a very big accomplishment.

Every so often, a very solid/good program has a year where they get hit with key injuries, things don’t mesh or click, bounces don’t go the way they want...it’s an outlier type year...

I think PSU is having that type of year...they clearly have athletes, they have great size, and they recruit well....sometimes you just have a year that everything goes wrong.

I’m no PSU fan, but my guess is they right the ship and are very good next year

Really great hanging with you and your wonderful family. I’m going to miss seeing Bren on the field. I love all the guys but there is a handful of kids that are special and he’s definitely one. Just an outstanding young man for those who don’t know him. While I will miss seeing him on the field, and we will, I’m super happy to have him on the other side of the lax family. He will be successful in everything he does. It’s great to be able to watch life unfold too. It doesn’t stop after they take off the uniform.

But, we have more of this ride left first. 12-2 is absolutely monumental. Couldn’t be more proud. Let’s see how far we can take this. Go Knights!

Not for nothing, but if I’m a PLL team, I’m taking a long hard look at Bren. Skills are exactly what you need in that league.

Caliknight, just from reading your posts over the years, I get the sense that RU lax player alums are a very loyal, active, and supportive group. I think Brennan and the rest of this year's seniors are going to fit right in.
