No. 6 Rutgers Men's Lacrosse Travels to No. 19 Ohio State for Big Ten Opener Sunday on BTN

Guys are getting hands free from 10 yards and dunks in front of the goal. It's not the goalie. We just can't stay on their hands and they continue to force feed the crease and it is paying off.
Thx ... thats why I asked

I am very concerned about facing legit competition. Face offs is the only thing we have done well and the goalie has been OK, every non specialist has been bad, let's not attempt an excuse.

Our non transition offense is questionable. We looked great in transition against Princeton. But our “half court” offense to borrow a phrase from bball was not good.
This is concerning

One positive from today has been face offs …. Another is no injuries … part of the disappointment is OSU was 4-4 coming in (losses to good teams) … RU winning 5 in a row over OSU … based on comments people say JHU and MICH are not very good … PSU score looked competitive vs UMD and top 10 so that will be a tough game. Winnable though.

It's been very good compared to years past. Missing Cameron on attack is a huge piece out.

We need him back. Without him it's going to be tough. Civetti is a man up guy. He isn't a starting attackman at this level.

Even so we just didn't have anything tonight.

Depending on Cameron's status we have to switch it up on attack. We need a different look.

Kulas is a shooter he isn't going to beat anyone off the dribble and Civetti is the same. We can't have two non dynamic guys playing scoring roles.

Winning face offs … 7 man up opportunities… more shots … would think RU would be winning or a close game … can’t believe that OSU has given up 15 goals to multiple teams. They look dialed n.

Poor effort but credit to OSU. Other than penalties, which they made up for by shutting down our EMO, OSU has played mistake free in all phases. Best game they have played this year by far.

Ugh - they way seeding works good luck making the tournament with 2+ loses.

Have to beat UMD.

With the history of RU and the NCAA committees no room for error … sadly if RU went 3-2 in league, finished 3rd and lost in the finals to UMD to be 11-4 with 2 losses to a top 2 UMD team … first team out.

You obviously don't follow the game. There will be more than one 3 loss AL this year.

Obviously don’t follow the game…

We are 2 losses so far. Anything is possible but tall order to win out the rest of the season AND win the BIG tournament.

Thankfully the Ivy isnt looking as strong this season so there will be more at large opportunities for RU.

The long and the short of it is that you simply can't go on the road in the B1G and stand around when your opponent comes out with their hair on fire. You should expect this, especially when you face OSU holding a 4-4 record with their back to the wall.

It happens. They jumped us big time. A situation like that calls for patience. Work for good shots. We didn't. Our shot selection was poor. Without Cameron we were getting nothing from the right side and we couldn't adjust.

Now those who don't know a lacrosse stick from a popsicle stick are screaming like it's the end of the world. No clue.

If you had told me that RU would score 7 goals in this game I would have referred you for a check up from the neck up. That said, this is an unpredictable game where some of the strangest things happen. I'm not saying we should have won. We did not play well enough to do that tonight.

I'm not about to write this team off. Do so at your own peril. I am sure that there are some people far more knowledgeable than me who would agree.

Tough performance tonight. Last two years have spoiled some of you…success isn’t always linear.

This team has been a work in progress, but these games are tough. On the road, tough environment vs a ranked team. Look at who OSU has played. They’re losses are not to Hofstra, Umass, Monmouth, and Delaware…

Bad performance tonight by RU…offense never got into a flow. OSU was a step faster tonight and played with more juice. Our D wasn’t great but they played a good 2nd half. I also thought our goalie was not seeing the ball great tonight…Rall is fantastic

The key is how they respond. Hop is playing well but they’re not UVA or Duke

It’s not panic time. But next week is pretty much must win time

The settled offense needs to find some juice.

This team is still very much alive and has its goals in front of them.

I’m not more knowledgeable but I agree with this post

Lots of season left. All these big ten teams are good. Including Rutgers.

OSU was backed up against a wall, at home…not happy we lost but this was not gonna be a cakewalk.

Rutgers benefited early in the season from this scenario when they had lost to Army, were backed against a wall and Loyola came in off two huge wins. RU played desperate with fire and Loyola played flat. It happens.

Gotta go beat Hop…but the season is NOT over.

Some perspective. Look through the D1 conferences and it is a rare team that has not already lost 3. Ivies, Big East, Patriot League, A10 only have 1 team with less than 3 losses except for Dartmouth, which wins 1 more tops. ACC is the exception, with the Top 3 in, Syracuse out and UNC with 3 and losing a tiebreaker to OSU.
Now everybody is headed for league play where everybody beats each other up.

Rutgers still has an edge in the AL sweepstakes. But they LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE, can'take many mistakes.

No excuses but this was a MUST win for OSU so they came to play.

We didn’t give this one away. OSU outplayed us plain and simple. We didn’t make a lot of unforced errors. We didn’t commit a lot of turnovers. We didn’t struggle on clears. We did fairly well on face offs. We didn’t really play poorly on defense.

The difference in this game is that we were not able to win the one on one battles. They were able to shut off Scott and no one was able to step up and make them pay. They were the better team today.

We need one of the young pups on attack to grow up in a hurry. The drop off between our starting 3 and next man in is massive. Overall, offensive depth has been an issue all season and it caught up to us tonight.

The second line doesn’t give us much. Was hoping Teresky would have taken that next step like Aimone.
