How the hell did he trick someone to marry him.. er.. convince.. I mean... congratulations!
He probably used some legal jargon on her. By the end of his proposal she probably thought it was her legal obligation to marry him. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Congratulations Camdenlaw, just remember she's always right, even if the law proves otherwise.

1960 World Series I was a Pirate fan back then. Sorry Zap.
A word of advice to CamdenLaw - repeat this often - 'Yes Dear'. It saves a lot of aggravation.
"I was just trying to be helpful" and "I just figured" usually means you should have done the opposite…lol

Luck? He doesn't need luck. What he needs is a good lawyer. Hey... wait a minute. Seriously... congrats and more congrats, CLP.

Congrats & all the best Camden. Zap, like Camden was a Buc fan also. Remember the series oh so well.

We tied the knot this morning in a civil ceremony. We are both incredibly happy. Thank you, Zappaa, for starting the thread -- yes, I do remember the 1960 World Series vividly, especially Ralph Terry throwing that high slider to Bill Mazeroski with Johnny Blanchard behind the plate -- and thank you to all of you who have wished us the best of luck. This thread means a lot to me.

You got married this morning and you're on the internet reading ScarletNation.com? Wow! Things have changed since I got married.

I hope she had a good lawyer for the pre-nup [winking]

Congrats!

If Camden Law knows the 1960 World Series he knows Vernon Law.

Yes, and I remember Bob Friend as another Pirates starter. Harvey Haddix (he of the 12-inning perfect game, broken up in the 13th) was on that Pirates team, but I can't remember whether he was a starter in the Series.

Yes, they have. Mostly we don't use carrier pigeons anymore and this "internets" thing is pretty cool.

Yes believe it was Joe Adcock of Milwaukee Braves who beat him in the 13th. Living in upstate NY then & listened to the whole game on KDKA out of Pittsburgh. Can't remember either if Harvey started in that series. Great little lefty. Believe Law won 3 games. He really knew how to pitch. Liked Friend, hard thrower, big hook. He had a couple or a few 20 game win seasons.

The Kitten started game 5 and got the win, he relieved in game 7 and was the winning pitcher in that one also.
Harvey was the pitching coach for the Pirates my whole tenure there, Skins (Bob Skinner) was my batting coach.
Harvey had great stuff and pin point control, he was a farmer from Ohio and damn proud of it.

I asked him frequently to tell me about his perfect game gem, he always said he never felt worse for a start in his life, he had a slight fever, chilled and ached all over and had "nothin in the bull pen"… I kid you not, he told Danny Murtaugh to have someone ready…Go figure
