We are not in their league yet but the gap is closing. Couple of years we will be their rival. I wonder how close avfriend Ash will be when he beats tOSU at home in two years.
The truth is if you consider the last 4 years the gap has been widening not closing.
As of December 7, 2015, that gap started closing. So his statement is correct that the gap "is" closing. Although, that may depend on what the meaning of "is" is. ;)
As much as I don't want to admit it, the gap is huge, and 2 years is very optimistic.Gotcha didn't read the article.
A couple of years? C'mon now. Maybe we could win a game against then within a couple years. But "be their rival"?We are not in their league yet but the gap is closing. Couple of years we will be their rival. I wonder how close avfriend Ash will be when he beats tOSU at home in two years.
Michigan St. is 2-2 against Ohio State with Urban Meyer as their head coach. Here's the recruiting rank of Michigan State's players that played in those games:You guys realize that this recruiting class, which is very solid by RU standards, would be crap by top ten standards right? I don't care if Pope Urban has a Nat'l Champ ring in Columbus, his head would be on a spike if he brought in Rutgers' recruiting class of 2017 as his own. It's going to be a long, long time before RU is in the same competitive league as OSU.
Or the Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles or Cleveland Indians? :eek:The gap hasn't closed... The rate of acceleration with which they are passing us is slowing down.
We are like the Marlins competing against the Yankees with no salary cap, luxury tax or drafts

Teams like Ohio State and Alabama might be at the level where they are getting diminishing returns on their efforts to improve because they are so good already. Meaning that it could possibly take more effort for them to get a bit better than it would take for us to catch up a stride with them. The gap hasn't closed... The rate of acceleration with which they are passing us is slowing down.
