It is hard for me to answer your question. I always walked to "the beat of my own drummer", to paraphrase Thoreau; but I loved dancing to "Satisfaction", "Woolly Bully", and "Shout". I could compete with almost anybody in traditional party drinking games such as "Wales Tales", but I also loved traditional folk music like "Four Strong Winds" or "Blowing in the Wind". My personal favorite was "Today", an obscure ballad by the New Christie Minstrels. It was the OUR song for my wife and me during our romance. That is also why I list "Loyal Sons". It was traditional after RU games then, and it always makes my wife cry when they play it after football games. It reminds her of her father's years at RU and his athletic pursuits. Coincidentally the tune was also one of my favorite hymns as a traditional Methodist youth.Originally posted by zappaa:

You are in a very interesting music period, hard rock, Motown, folk ballots, English invasion, Elvis, Doo Wop hold overs.
I've found in your era you either went the way of The Stones or you stayed traditional, is there anything to that?
I suppose this is a case of too much information, but I do think the student population was dividing into 2 distinct groups during the mid to late 60's, the grungy types and the traditional types. There were lots of people just like me who did not get into drugs or protesting at all, but the image presented by the media paints this group as dominant.
