Opponent in B1G-ACC

Nice draw for us. Should be a fun game to watch and its AT HOME! Finally a "brand" name at the RAC for the out of conference.

Florida State and Seton Hall coming to the RAC this year ! Hopefully we can get some RAC magic in these games .. Corey's time to shine.

damn it, I was hoping this was in TALLY! UGH! Would have been a short ride for the family!
Last year we had the Big Ten / Big East game at Depaul and the Big Ten / ACC at Miami. We have to get a home game one of these days.....lol

This is a good draw I think. I thought for sure we would get Boston College. Florida State is usually very good but a few guys did declare for the NBA. It is a big name school so I like this.

That sux that Bacon declared for the draft-Bacon and Sanders are close friends from childhood. That would have made for alot of fun.

Rough draw, gonna get smoked. Good to have a big name and at home though. Not gonna hurt our recruiting. Keep it within 15 and we are good to go.

Didn't FSU go to the NCAA's last season?

The ACC - B1G Challenge used to pair teams according to their relative placement in their respective conferences. That doesn't seem to happen any longer, at least not with us. Last year, Miami was/had been #3 in the ACC and we had been last in the B1G. The first two years, we had better (more even) matchups, winning at Clemson and losing to WF by just one.

That 1967 game was one season after the Lloyd - Valvano backcourt graduated. It might have been a different game with them still here. We also never got a return visit from them.

FSU was #2 in the ACC last year behind UNC.

Jonathan Isaac from FSU might be a top 5-7 pick in the NBA Draft.
Dwayne Bacon will be a late pick in the first round.
Xavier Rathan-Mayes is getting pre-draft workouts with a variety of clubs.

These guys were most of the points and power players.

One other guy averaged over 16 minutes per game, and that's Terance Mann, who I believe returns, averaging 8.4 PPG.

Replacing them are 5 star guard MJ Walker, 4 star center Ikey Obiagu, 4 star forward RaiQuan Gray, and three more 3 stars.

Let's just say we'd much rather face them next year than last year.

FSU's top 3 players from last season are gone. It would be a big disappointment if RU gets smoked at the RAC.

yeah and they bring in the 12th ranked class in the country. They should beat us handidly. I know we will fight but theyll be a bit much early on in the season.

If we played Michigan tough at home and lost in the last minute why can't we beat FSU?

Why are some always so negative? I doubt we will get smoked. FSU has a very good recruiting class but they will be freshmen playing us in an early season game. I believe it will be a good game. I think the RAC will be rocking for this one. We only played them once in December of 1967 at Florida State and we lost 87-77. It is about time after 50 years to get a return game at RU. We really don't need the negatives coming to the game.

Is the Florida State game the same day (Dec. 9) that Florida squares off with Cincinnati at the Prudential Center in Newark (and Seton Hall plays VCU in the other game of the doubleheader)?

RPI resume booster for that dance ticket
Maybe, maybe not. If Rutgers wins they'll get credit for half of a win because it's a home game. Move it off campus & you get more credit for a neutral site win.

FSU is typically better early in the season than late. They have the No. 11 recruiting class coming in including a McDonald's AA guard, and a Draymond Green type of forward. I'm not sure how quickly they'll gel but I could see them finishing anywhere between 6th and 9th in the ACC.

I saw FSU twice last year in the ACC Tourney granted with their kids who are departing this year. To me, they were not overly impressive...very athletic; jumpy but not particular good shooting team. Watching them I was shocked they ended 3rd in ACC last year.

Well be rockin, Art. I look forward to the game for the points you mentioned. I will take Sanders, Williams,Thiam, Freeman, an improved Sa to be able to contend with this team. It will not be a blowout.

Thanks for the post. Not afraid of the Noles when Rutgers should be top three in the BIG...

Cue sarcasm.

Interesting match-up. Rutgers has only faced the Seminoles once in hoops, losing 87-77 on the road in 1967. That FSU team featured Dave Cowens.
That's strange that we never crossed paths at least once over all these years. You would figure that we would have bumped into them at a holiday tournament.

This will be a good game. For people that don't follow ACC hoops, know that FSU lost their top three scorers. No matter who they bring in, they will have to replace that, and it will not be automatic.

Absolutely-----they died at years end.

Leonard Hamilton is a tremendous recruiter who is a fair to poor coach .
