Most of the track and field events will be held very early in the morning here in the East and in the middle of the night out West.I suspect NBC will be focusing on activities that also have professional league counterparts for most of their prime time showings.They are paying the freight,but perhaps it's time for the historical events to separate themselves from the NBA,the pool,soccer,and the like.

NBC will still wrap it up like a reality show with human interest stories and only highlighting Americans who either have a sob story or have already had a medal winning performance.
I cannot stand watching the opening/closing ceremonies on our US Broadcasts.
They just talk too damn much, they don't need to fill in every single second of airtime with some pundit shouting random obscure facts.
