OT: 2023 Transfer Portal Activity (non-RU related)

Don’t know if true. Was hoping we were working in the background. Wanted this one.
Don't know about the committing part but saw quite a bit of news on it on twitter with regards to UGA losing Dylan. It's a good thing if it happens. Who knows if he'll be good or not but talent getting a little more dispersed (something I've mentioned) is a good thing for CFB in general.

And of course there was this from MBG lol

Preseason top 10? Nebraska? Were they really just a QB away from that? Color me skeptical.
The other QB recruit is a 5 star QB. Next year is going to be extremely difficult. 8 out of 12 teams will get their QB from the portal and they will be the top QB in the transfer portal.

Raiola's father was an AA OL for Nebraska circa 2000. That may be coming into play

In the McCord thread, I posted a tweet that said Nebraska was matching or beating Raiola's $3M NIL deal. Who knows if that is true.
Everything is opaque but if numbers get too big, it's harder to believe. Are there big deals out there, probably but it doesn't mean every one of them is true.

It's not like pro contracts where when it's reported you know it's real.

I just read that Dylan uncle is the Nebraska offensive line coach. Rhule probably knew it and hired him. Another relative story just like the Syracuse commit,

This is really getting crazy. The $3 million is probably for 1 year so they can get another $3 million for the next two years from another portal transfer. Most of the QBs won’t get into the NFL so how can you blame them for earning their big pay date in college.

Agreed. What if the kid is a bust in college?

From the McCord Thread by a husker fan.

Sounds like Georgia did something to upset the Rioala family. They did an in home with him and stuff changed then.
As to McCord, it is sounding like some donors gave xxxx amount and said go get players above what the NIL has in it. Rumor on the NU board is one donor gave $8mil and several others have pledged an additional $500k-$1mil to give an added $14.5mil war chest above what the NIL had.
NU is going after both of them and it sounds positive for them to get them. Rioalas family is wealthy and NIL has never been something that changed their outlook on where he was going to go. It’s always been more about being upfront and sticking to your word. That’s why he de-committed from OSU. He is a legacy recruit to NU and choose Georgia over NU in May. His dad’s name is on the stadium ring of honor in Lincoln and the family has always stayed close to NU stuff.
TIFIWIW

Rhule wasn’t shaking his head at it. He was putting the NU NIL folks on notice that if you want to compete in today’s landscape we need to up our game.
There were multiple meetings with Rhule and the NIL folks before he agreed to become the coach. He wanted to make sure he would be given the resources to compete.
Ever since he had that little speech the 1890 folks(NUs NIL) have become very public about how they are doing things and who is running stuff there. It’s almost like the entire thing was staged between Rhule and the collective to get NU donors to open their checkbooks a little more.
Something I also learned about the NU NIL is that if a player, for example, is getting $100k annually, the NIL withholds how much the taxable income would be on that amount and the player only gets it at tax time. They are not given 100% of what the amount is so they go blow it and not be able to pay the tax. The players are also required to take an NIL “class” with the accountants and others to understand the implications of getting the money or gifts. Nobody gets a dime till they have went through that with people who understand how it all works.

The Texas QB Ewers sat on the bench at Ohio State first year with a $1 million NIL. I guess the top 5 QB recruits can command $2-3 million sitting on the bench the first year. Inflation nice, next year it will be $3 million to sit on the bench. Now every fan can act like a sport owner and overpay for their players.

QB are worth more than DC or OC.

McCord's father played for Rutgers. That may not be coming into play.

Rumor is Nebraska is matching the $3M offered by Georgia for Dylan.
NIL won’t and has never been a factor for Dylan. Last I heard he wasn’t getting much of anything from anyone. His family is wealthy enough to not have that be a big driver in his decision.

so many good players in the portal and we don't hear one word about Rutgers even pursuing them. Greg should have offered 20 receivers and tight ends by now
