Been to a few high school games this year. Bigger crowds than I remember from last year. Maybe folks are thinking they can't afford the NFL games so they're opting for the $4 ticket for live football?
Could be part of it, but this game is a rivalry because they are both part of a 6 High School District. Freehold Twp, Freehold Boro, Howell, Manalapan,Marlboro and Colt Neck. I'm not sure if there's another Regional HS District that has 6 different towns in NJ under one Regional Superintendent.
I wished they all played each other round Robin ever year instead of switching off based on last years record

🍿 for this thread now. As an SJR guy there is no love lost for the DePaul staff and student body. Too many incidents with them over the years. And my Ramapo HS wife would say the same for Wayne Hills. Must be something in the water there.
I guess If you ignore the fact there isn’t one coach or starter at DePaul who actually comes from or live in wayne. Then your statement makes total sense

Obviously never been to a hills Ramapo game. Like most rivalries, year to year idiots on both sides. Last year, I actually went to that game for first time in a decade. Ramapo players were acting like such fools that one of their best players who I know well actually apologized to my wife.
They may not be from Wayne but those coaches and fans are not the victims are not as innocent as you make them out to be.
Not saying that they are innocent but the idea they are some group of thugs is ridiculous. I’ve probably stood on the sidelines for at least 2-3 games a year for over a decade there. Info to games all over the state every week. Can’t say I’ve seen their behavior to be any better or worse than your average staff. Especially the parochials
Been to many of their games over the years. Agree with you. Both sides can be too much. And that goes for most HS fans.
