OT: 2024 NY Jets Season Thread

Mike goes off on Jets "ruining Aaron Rogers."
I'm not sure he wasn't already ruined but I am sure Jets didn't help (Sam Darnold now top 7 in NFL)

Jets didn't ruin Aaron Rodgers. Just watch him play. He is old and way past his prime.

He wasn't looking great but I wasn't sure if he was over the hill or slow to rebound from Achilles. A lot of athletes say it was harder to bounce back from that particular injury

Honestly the win yesterday really put the Jets in no mans land.

What are the QB/offense options for next year? There is no real OC, the QB that you bet the house on probably doesn't want to play, no one really wants him back but is there a better option? Is there a good free agent possibility (Darnold II, perhaps)?

How does the defense get fixed?

Does anyone in management actually care if the Jets win a game or have a winning season?

The Defense has some pieces, they just haven't been good this year. They certainly need to patch some holes.

The offense has some weapons, Garrett Wilson, Davante, Breece... the O-Line has been ok. They need to figure out the QB situation. At this point, if the new head coach is ok with it i'd consider bringing Rodgers back for another year. They also need TE, and i'm bummed they let Brock Bowers go the pick after they chose.

No coach, no GM, and possibly no owner. (Woody may be headed back to the UK.) The very definition of an organization in disarray.

Today I saw the new "30 for 30" about the (Jets) "Sack Exchange."
Man what a mess those guys were - Gastineau especially was/is a haunted house.
They looked awful in interviews to boot.
But its a compelling segment - like a recent pile-up on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge.
Jets need an exorcism I think

If they get Darnold back, they'll only screw him up again and he'll suck. Minnesota has a real coach. That's why he's thriving there. Plus, his Madden rating isn't high enough for them to sign.

Darnold will have too many teams after him to want to come to the Jets.

Was a great documentary !

The Mud Bowl vs Miami still pisses me off.

As does firing Walt Michaels.

As does blowing that game vs Cleveland in 86.

I was always a Gastineau guy!

I don’t blame him one bit for confronting Favre and he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame

And as Mike Greenberg said “ had those Jets teams won a super bowl - the Sack Exchange would be revered eternally !

I was wondering why the doc had a "Mature Audiences" warning since I never saw that before but then I got to Gastineau bio.
I don't know how many times Gastineau said "Nobody liked me!" but it was a lot.
Could film crew have told Klecko that he had a boogie looming lol?
That segment was "so Jets" it was depressing lol
Gastineau had a daughter who was stunning 15 years ago

I'd like to get Vrabel. I'll pass on Rex. Rather have Rivera than Rex.
The hiring process is being coordinated by a consulting firm headed by Jets former GM Mike Tannebaum. Ultimately it will be Woody's decision. Reportedly he wants to wrap it up before he is off to the UK, which has not been announced, but is widely expected.

Woody's not going back to the UK. Trump has already announced someone else about a month ago.

Thanks for the correction. Here I had gone the entire year without ever being wrong, and blew it on the last day!

Tannenbaum leading the search does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

They'd have been revered eternally in the NY area. The rest of the US, not so much.

Vrabel is the only name that should be pursued.
Can't do that. Vrabel is a hot commodity. There are jobs out there that are more attractive than the Jets job. At minimum, need a Plan B.

From what I have read, Vrabel and Ron Rivera are 1 and 1A.

Hopefully Woody backs up the brinks truck.

Highly doubt Vrabel will want the job. You have an impulsive owner who doesn’t understand football, only the commercial aspects of the business. If they are going to hire an experienced HC, I would put Pete Carrol at the top of the list and I think he would want the job. He was HC there and didn’t get a chance, in true Jet fashion they fired an eventual Super Bowl coach.

Vrabel is probably off the board. If he wants it Kraft will hire him in NE.
I think some people don't realize how old Pete Carroll is. He's 73. I'll little old to be starting from scratch.
