The injuries are pretty significant at this point--Senga, Martinez, Alvarez, Raley. It may start showing up in the W/L column. Martinez arriving at the end of the week would, of course, temper that some.
The weird thing with Alvarez- who would have thought that his loss hurts defense and pitchers more than losing his bat...

Wanted to highlight some SP performances I didn't post about over the weekend so that is below before daily report. These starts are from Friday-Sunday.

Added Jack Wenninger who has been excellent in St. Lucie. He's a college SP from last year so he should be promoted to Brooklyn soon. Scott another great start. Our 2 way McClean put in an excellent start after his terrible one last time out.

Blade Tidwell RHP (AA Binghamton) - 4.0 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0 HR, 1.84, L (1-2)
Brandon Sproat RHP (High A Brooklyn) - 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 0 HR, 1.86
Kade Morris RHP (Low A St. Lucie) - 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB 2 K, 0 HR, 1.42
Jonah Tong RHP (Low A St. Lucie) - 4.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 0 HR, 0.00

As always with the caveat it's super super early but the position players have not started the year off well that's for sure. We thought it would be the opposite but so far the strength in the minors has been the SP.

Christian Scott had himself a game last night. Gave up a walk and a blast in the first, then ran off 18 in a row. His numbers jump off the page: 0.73 WHIP, .151 BAA, 14.8 K/9. The only blemish is the home run ball - he's given up 6 in 20 innings. (He's only given up 11 hits, but 6 have been HR's). Overcome that flaw, and he'll be in our rotation for years to come. Probably sooner rather than later.

Sucks that Lindor can be so streaky- he will end up in the .260 25/30 HR 100 R/RBI again. just saying
And....great defense

He looks good, not so sure about great, but he’s intriguing. And he should be ready soon. He turns 25 in June.

Of the pitchers I saw in the spring and breakout games, Sproat’s stuff impressed me the most. He seems to be a late bloomer who’s in A ball and will turn 24 before the end of the season. He’ll be promoted quickly if he does mildly well.

Tidwell looks like an athlete who knows how to pitch. Maybe not top of the rotation, but he’ll play.

Terrific to end the west coast trip with a win and go 3-3.

Great to see Lindor swat 2 HRs. Hopefully he can go on a sustained hot streak.

For the upcoming home stand : 5-2 would be ideal and 4-3 would make me minimally content.

Have to win series at home.

3 vs Cardinals and 4 vs Cubs.

How about- he looks great, so far.
It is AAA and you rarely see numbers like this even in limited innings

Scott has more to work on in AAA. His numbers are wonky. He has a 100 LOB%, 4.76 FIP, really low BABIP, given up a lot of HRs but all those Ks. Organization thinks he needs to work more on in zone pitching. He'll be up this year but not quite ready yet. No rush this year even with his age. Also he'll be on an innings limit as well.

Currently batting .206 with 4 HR's and 10 RBI's.

Don't want to be a hater, but he's got a ton of work to do to attain the numbers you posted.

Why? Is this the first slump Lindor has ever had?
He reached those target numbers over the past two years (hit .262, 28.5 homers, 102.5 RBI and 103 runs). Last year at this exact point he was hitting .221 with three homers and 18 RBI. The year before that he had a 22-game stretch where he hit ,207 with three homers and 11 RBI.
It happens. 1) It's baseball. 2) He's streaky. 3) He's generally a slow starter and always a strong finisher. The back of his baseball card suggests he'll probably get right where the above poster said he will.

Hope Nimmo's batting average has nothing to do with his sunglasses. I really like them, guessing they are Under Armour since he has a deal with them. May have to try them for running.

Great starts from Stuart and Tong last night. Tong hasn't given up a run yet all year in 18.2. 36 K's to 18.2 IP lol video game stuff so far. WHIP of .60. Alex Ramirez has been killing as well. Really our only upper minors hitter doing well to start the year and it doesn't help everyone is hurt.
