What happened to Jett Williams? I see he's injured.

If an outfielder on the big league team were to go down for 2 weeks, who would get the call up? At this time would it be Ramirez from double AA?

They haven't said anything about Williams but he was HBP twice in a game and hasn't played since.

No I don't think Ramirez would be the first OF called up. We might see him next year if he keeps this up though.

Marco Vargas was activated and will be back tonight.

If an outfielder went down, I think they'd bring up a veteran - either Ben Gamel or Trayce Thompson. Or maybe now that Zach Short is gone, they bring up an infielder (Jose Iglesias?) and move McNeil to OF.

Would be nice if they had the positional flexibility to bring up Vientos in this circumstance, but I doubt it.

Just another reminder that, while improved, the system still needs work. I’m confident that Stearns is working on it. But it doesn’t happen overnight.

Good move moving Lindor up to 2nd in the order. He can get even more strikeouts that way. 4 so far.

Don't know who this poster is, but he obviously has no clue what he's talking about.

Baty and Vientos should be in a platoon at 3rd at this point.
It is interesting- Baty has not shown power but he ha been pretty good- Vientos- is coming in hot though.

With this team- we are just too streaky on offense. But our pitching staff- for our starters- outside of Houser- we have had only a couple of duds- What a F-ing game pitched today.

The bullpen
Dynamic to this point.

Houser has been a disaster. One more horrible start again and he may be in the bullpen or released.

You get the sense that Vientos was pissed about not making the roster initially and now wants to make it very difficult for them to send him down again.

Who gets the spot?
Great question. Are we assuming Butto stays in the rotation? If so, then Magill is back in a few weeks. But there’s also Christian Scott who has been performing well. My crazy plan is that we stretch Reed Garett out in the minors and see what he can do- but he’s been a godsend in the bullpen.

Why? Is this the first slump Lindor has ever had?
He reached those target numbers over the past two years (hit .262, 28.5 homers, 102.5 RBI and 103 runs). Last year at this exact point he was hitting .221 with three homers and 18 RBI. The year before that he had a 22-game stretch where he hit ,207 with three homers and 11 RBI.
It happens. 1) It's baseball. 2) He's streaky. 3) He's generally a slow starter and always a strong finisher. The back of his baseball card suggests he'll probably get right where the above poster said he will.
Why does he have a lot of work to do? Is that the question?

As you note, he was off to a better start last year across the board. So he will have to be better the rest of the way this year then he was last year May through the end of the year.

Can he do it? Sure, but he has work to do.
