OT: 2025 NY Giants Off Season Thread

I keep hearing that they're gonna bring back the GM and head coach for 2025.
WHY ?????

I was reevaluating NYG management after the success of their 2024 draft.
Giants have fumbled the QB and OL but current crew has drafted fairly well at other spots and made some good FA signings.
I knew Waller was a mistake (his production stopped awhile ago) before he even played but Okereke was good
The Saquon mess I always said was an issue that Schoen was taking personally imo.
The Saquon vs Schoen thing was in media a lot and I think he wanted to sweep it all under the carpet.
I'd like a good QB to be dratted (not Cam) because rookie QB contract allows breathing room.
Signing an established QB these days costs crazy money

With both Tennessee and Cleveland QB starved and more than likely both will take Ward and Sanders, who you think the Giants will get at/for the third pick?

I would be OK with this. 2025 will be a nightmare schedule with slim chances of winning for the Giants. Maybe draft Travis Hunter and sign an interim QB? Then go QB next draft. Note that there will also likely be other QB Draft options that seem to pop up as the draft approaches - they do every year.

The guys drafted this year played well. Other top draft picks have been bad. Neal is a bust, Kayvon hasn’t lived up to his expectations. Banks is a CB2 at best. Ezeudu is a bust 3rd round in 2022. Hyatt had a whopping 8 catches this year. They traded up for him in 2023.
This years class seems good but the last two were brutal. Mara wants consistency I feel so that’s why he retained them. Can’t depend on a rookie QB to get them into playoff contention. I think they somehow get a vet QB and hope for the best
Schoen said you don’t draft hungry. Referencing food shopping hungry. Well Schoen is starving and desperate for a QB. I pray he doesn’t trade future assets for one.

Read articles saying Titans and Browns both need QB (Browns with awful Deshaun mess).
I can't imagine Shedeur/Prime being high on Cleveland at all.
I see USA today article with Cam, Hunter and Shedeur going 1, 2, 3
I'm not a Cam fan would rather have the SU kid who is being ignored imo

That's just based on passing yards per game. Doesn't tell us much.

Ints, TDs etc - everything else is right in with the top players getting all the sizzle.
SU is actually #1 for passing offense.
Joe Morris, Nassib, Tyree, Pugh, Allen, McCain, Coughlin - Giants have a big SU branch in their tree.
McCord at NYGs wouldn't surprise me - I could see Coach Tom working Mara over for his orange bro.

I guess the plan is to let them get pummeled again against 10 playoff teams then bring in a new regime. No reason to start a new group off against that gauntlet. My problem with this is, Schoen pulling a Gettleman and signing ridiculous contracts to try and save his job.

How much did that SU branch reflect Coughlin as HC?

McCord in the 1st would surprise me. McCord after the 1st would not if they don't pick a QB in Rd. 1.

I'm not a Giants fan but is this a a Saquan like scenario where drafting one person with a top pick is ultimately a mistake when you can trade down and get more value at multiple positions?

The Giants have a ton of needs.

Milroe not a first round pick. Maybe 3rd or 4th round. Bama fans don’t want him back.
That mock draft link (Tankathon) had him in the second, with Hunter projected in the first. Problem with Hunter is position and the WR room is in decent shape. I actually would like Sanders in the first. Possibly take a guy like Gabriel, if they cannot get better, in the 6th. Let 2 QBs battle it out. 🤷‍♂️ I actually like Gabriel better than Milroe, but measurables are a big knock.

Milroe will be gone by middle of round 2 if not sooner. He is playing in the Reeses Senior Bowl so that will hopefully help him. He has a ton of potential. A lot of scouts talk highly about his character. Dart has been really moving up the boards from what I've been reading.

Where could you reasonably get McCord? A guy like that would seem to be a logical pick to groom for the top spot while you have a veteran bridge QB in place. Spend the higher draft pick on another need.

Where could Giants have taken Jones?
Most people knew he wasn't a top pick for 1st round but there he went.
I cant predict teams that tight.
I knew Darnold really didn't have much experience at QB but still liked his ability more than Baker Mayfield.
But Mayfield was a 4 year starter so I expected him to get off to a better start - that's how things happened.
McCord in first or third wouldn't surprise me (but I do think he's better than ND's Brady Quinn who sank)

Of all positions, QB seems the hardest one to understand for teams (Vince Young, JaMarcus Russell, Couch, Leinhart )
Average QBs on great teams look good and great QBs on bad teams look weak.
A lot of teams wanted Haskins at one time because he had big stats.
I think a lot of QBs benefit from time to learn on the sidelines.
Mahomes, Aaron Rogers, Danny White - lots of great QB learned from the bench.
But I think NYGs need someone decent now (Jones had ok first year) and that's why I liked Shedeur
He can play under duress and take the beatings - he has a HOF DB coach a phone call away.

I never thought Barkley was a bad pick.
He made Pro Bowl 3x and NFL Rookie of the Year and was one of few RBs who could streak for a TD at any time.
The problem was he never had a good QB or OL.
If Philly had let him play on Sunday the rushing record would have locked-up the HOF for Barkley (NFL leading rusher in 24)
If Giants didn't take SB they probably would have taken Darnold since he was the hot QB pick after Baker. "suck for Sam" and all that
I always like Parcells Giants' idea of taking best player available first and doing need after that

I was sort of agreeing with you. Just wondering where McCord may go. We’ll know a lot more after the pro days and combines.

Agree with a lot here. I do think certain young QB's need to sit and learn, especially if they have a good vet QB to learn from. Disagree about Sanders. Im hoping they go BPA at #3. Carter from Penn St or Graham from Michigan will help the D line. Graham should free up Dex more with facing double teams. This team has so many holes

I assume he's a sleeper because I've seen nothing written about him and was surprised he was at the top of main stat charts.
I watched him on TV and thought he was better than I expected.
Fran Brown cooked-up a nice lure for any QB recruits
