OT: 2025 NY Jets Off Season Thread

Absent keeping Taylor and drafting a QB to sit a year and learn, they will overpay for anyone on the market.

Darnold will command top dollar and can’t imagine would want to come back. Purdy is overrated. Cousins is washed up.

Maybe make a play for one of the Steeler QBs?

I wouldn't touch Russell Wilson

Aaron Rodgers is the gift that keeps on giving. Jets will be looking at a $49M cap charge. Unless they delay formally cutting him until June 1, in which case they can spread the charge over two years.

Good. I knew it was a mistake to bring him over.
Yes but they are backed into a corner for this year at least. No great options out there and no one currently on the team that is capable. Keeping Rodgers wasn't the long term answer but he might have added some value this year. I guess we won't have the franchise QB selected this year and it will be patchwork for at least the next two years.

Jets have reportedly advised Aaron Rodgers that he will NOT be back next year.
Rodgers is going to cost the Jets #49 million in dead cap money
>If Rodgers is cut or retires, the Jets could absorb a $49 million dead money charge next season unless they designate him a post-June 1 cut and can spread out that charge over two years.<

Kirk Cousins might be the next Jet QB while they try to develop a QB they pick in the 2-3rd round of draft or see if Jordan Travis comes back from his injury and gains experience behind Cousins .
Kirk is owed 27.5 million base salary (guaranteed) from the Falcons , so the Jets would have to pay only the veterans minimum, if Cousins wants the NY limelight and the chance to shine in it while Atlanta foots the bill.
