So... Ahmir Mitchell has already been suspended from Michigan Football team. No mention of how long the suspension is, but geez, getting suspended before the first game seems pretty bad.

We might get Ahmir and Brad after all! Transfers!

NOT! Really you don't want a loser.

Hmmm.

Starting to make sense now. I see others have noticed too.

I saw rumors of ditching class and being in the doghouse from day 1 at UM

That's the thing - some of these kids don't know that playing college football is not the same as "going to college". You can't go there and expect to have fun and live the college life. Playing college football is like a full time job, it's a grind.
DING DING DING!!!!!! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!

5 things for CFB players:

eat
sleep
practice/train
play
study(play book and regular courses)

When pressed for details about the suspensions, Harbaugh grew a bit agitated and eventually walked away from the interview.

“That’s why I don’t give you any information because you’re never satisfied,” Harbaugh said. “You always want a second question, a third question, a fourth question. I just said we’d handle it internally. Thank you.”

This is the best part....

This is how it starts...

The earlier post about the reality of college life for football players is good. I think we also need to consider how many regular students have difficulties leaving home and being on campus and doing without the guidance of the parents. It happens.

Whatever this problem is or was, perhaps the suspension and whatever else Harbaugh and Michigan do to correct the behavior will work out and this kid will be able to take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.

Amazing how times have changed, back in the mid 70s and 80s I can assure you football players were the biggest partiers on college campuses..!

By "suspended" he's just going to be red shirted. Something that was likely anyway or at least not a lot of playing time was likely if he wasn't. Whether or not he can get his act together in the mean time before next fall remains to be seen. We got Eddie McDoom as our freshman WR who can potentially actually contribute on the field this year. What a name.

Well, you know something about the metabolism of athletes.. they can absorb a lot and still "perform". I did leave out that some of these people leaving home for the first time will be the ones who lead others to make bad decisions as well. I suppose someone suspended might fall into that category as well.

????? You are just taking an old, dried up pork chop, and throwing applesauce on it. Ever hear about "one bad apple....etc." Nice try on spinning this....

Yea, I wonder if it's really changed or if we just aren't as aware of it until there is trouble. Pretty hard for me to imagine there is no partying going on by football players across the country.

Was in class
Yea Walker is fine by all accounts and seems to be their RB3 at this point.

Mitchell prob missed some classes and smoked some weed based on what I read. I mean I think it's good that Harbaugh is dealing with that now to set expectations because that lifestyle ain't gonna work in the long term.

I kind of wish Flood was a better disciplinairian, but then again, we might still have him as a coach today if he didn't have his kids rob drug dealers and get arrested.

So when can I expect to read about 2 NJ recruits not working out at Michigan from the Star - Ledger.
Woot, there it is:
http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/i...out_after_being_press.html#incart_river_index

Sounds like Sarge is still butthurt from being excluded from most practices:
"For the second straight training camp, Harbaugh has gone into a bunker by keeping practices off limits to the media. An Aug. 7 media day and Monday's abruptly halted interview have been the only two opportunities for reporters to press Harbaugh on the state of a team that begins the season ranked No. 8 nationally in the Coaches Poll.

If you think that's a good thing, you should read this skillfully written column by MLive.com's David Mayo."

No chance of a transfer to Rutgers. Doesn't Big Ten have a 2 year sit period for in conference transfers. That pretty much garantees once a kid signs to a rival they're never coming back in a uniform.
B1G is 1 year but you need the permission of the school.

Always find it dumb that they write about Michigan football on the NJ.com. But I guess it gets him clicks.

Also title is kinda clickbait cuz only Mitchell is in trouble, not Walker, but whatever.

Anyway, would be nice for him to actually write about OUR TEAM...

I think you could say athletes were, even into the 90's. It seems to all have changed now. The level of play across many sports is just too high now. To be successful, you are almost a professional, and have to treat it as such. Take lax for instance. The amount of time these kids spend on training and the level of play is just too high now. While I am sure there is fun being squeezed in when possible, the game has changed to the point where that is limited.

better to get an academic scholarship if you can--you will actually experience college

Harbaugh has the maturity level of a 16 year old. Really weird.

You can only transfer once. Unless it is grad transfer and most players don't graduate in 4 years. If he transfer again, it would have to be a NAIA school. He can't even transfer down.

That's not entirely true. You can transfer as much as you want but you have to sit a year.
Savage to Zona= RS
Savage from Zona to Pitt= one year sit out.

If last year has taught us anything, it's how it feels to live in a glass house
