OT: California ban legacy and donor admission

Biff Jr. with a 1000 SAT does NOT get into Stanford, and hasn't for over 50 years. Biff with a 1250 might, particularly if there is 2nd hook such as athletics along with being a legacy.

Even if that is true, 1250 is 100+ points lower than the average SAT at RU. So I say come on down Biff Jr and file that lawsuit, I love a good laugh

Universities bring in diverse classes and use a variety of techniques to do so including donor favors and minorities that may have lower test scores than the average. Leave them alone. Government overreach. Also, those terrible donors fund scholarships for those who can’t afford.

They are now legally barred (and have been in CA for a while) from using race, so I would say this brings some balance.

Using economics or athletic ability you have a colorable argument. I am not sure what the argument is that being the child of a wealthy alum brings a unique perspective to class. Presumably, you have kids that choose the school just because their parent(s) went and they became inculcated into the fandom or spirit of the place. I knew some kids at RU whose parents also went and it's not like their names were on buildings.
