Apologies if someone already posted this, but I only see about half the posts on this board for some reason 😉
The New Yorker has a nice summary article about the pandemic in its January issue. It's not an easy read as it highlights many of the failures of the US response. I did gain some appreciation for the role Birx played - once she was shut out of the White House covid meetings she basically took her show on the road, traveling from state to state working to convince governors and local leaders to implement mask mandates and other measures. Yes, she should have spoken up publicly when Trump made suggestions about bleach and using "strong light inside the body" but it sounds like she did a lot of good behind the scenes.
Interesting that one governor who refused to make time to meet with her was the one in South Dakota.
