I just got a call from a Ford dealer asking for best offers on F-150 Lighting. I think a lot of people are canceling their orders.

I mean, today seems pretty good, so far. But yeah, got a ways to go to recover.ppl's investment portfolios aren't feeling so good right now.
I'll believe you and @RUevolution36. You talk about these people being sane. To me, that's a contradiction in terms: driving over 100 mph is automatically insane. Too many bad things can happen because the other traffic is much slower.Yep. Like I said, it didn't used to bug me because the folks doing it were mostly sane car people who took their driving as seriously as their cars.
But that's all changed for the worse. Scares me to see someone in an Escalade doing 125mph and lane weaving. But I saw that very thing on the GSP just a couple/few weekends ago.
These darn irresponsible folks are making it problematic for us responsible speeders. 😀
The dealer is guiding me to 5k over MSRP. I would consider it if I can still get the EV tax credit.ppl's investment portfolios aren't feeling so good right now.
I want one. I've configured a couple just to taunt myself.
For sure it's not particularly sane when there are more than just a handful of cars on the road. Or on many roads where the surface conditions, or the road design, doesn't lend itself to high speeds. And we have a ton of roads that aren't fit for it in NJ.I'll believe you and @RUevolution36. You talk about these people being sane. Unless you're dying to have one, I'd wait out the dealer and see what happens over the course of the Winter in terms of inflation, the stock market, and the economy. I think it's at least 50/50 you'll be able to find one new for MRSP or less. The dealer is guiding me to 5k over MSRP. I would consider it if I can still get the EV tax credit.

But there's almost no chance at all I could land an allocation for a build. And the dealer markups are nuts, although sub-100K which is surprising given the long wait lists to have a chance at getting one. Even some used prior generation GT3/RSs are selling well over their original MSRPs. There will be very slightly used ones listing for 100-150K over MSRP within a year.
So I'm trying to see if I can get a dealer to sell me a 992 series non-RS GT3 allocation for a relatively low, or no, dealer markup. But so far haven't found any takers.
I’m not buying one because I don’t qualify for the federal tax credit.Unless you're dying to have one, I'd wait out the dealer and see what happens over the course of the Winter in terms of inflation, the stock market, and the economy. Lol. The low key flex. I like it.I’m not buying one because I don’t qualify for the federal tax credit.
The tables will turn soon enough and the blood sucking dealers will get their just desserts. I tried to buy a few cars within last 12 months and got fed up to the point I just bought out my lease. Figure I’ll sit tight for 12-24 months and trade it in at some point…or drive it into the ground…but at least I didn’t get swindled.i Found the car I want. The dealer wants a 20k “documentation fee“ 🤬
Just your speculation, or do you have information? Nothing of the sort on the F150 Lightning forums.I just got a call from a Ford dealer asking for best offers on F-150 Lighting. I think a lot of people are canceling their orders.
Are you sure? Last I checked, if you complete purchase in 2022, the "old" rules apply? But not 100% sure on this. Since we placed our order prior to the legislation was enacted, we qualify (or at least I think we do). I detailed this somewhere earlier in the thread. The dealer is guiding me to 5k over MSRP. I would consider it if I can still get the EV tax credit.
Taking into account that production of 2023 models will start soon, and the MSRP is $7,500 higher for 2023 models vs. 2022 models, not sure this strategy will succeed in purchasing a new vehicle. I would not pay $1 over MSRP though for any vehicle.Unless you're dying to have one, I'd wait out the dealer and see what happens over the course of the Winter in terms of inflation, the stock market, and the economy. I think it's at least 50/50 you'll be able to find one new for MRSP or less.
It’s your dealership that called. 5 new Lariat trim. Asking for best offer and suggested 5k over MSRP will get it done.Just your speculation, or do you have information? Nothing of the sort on the F150 Lightning forums.
I read that if you have a purchase order prior to Aug 16th, old rules apply. But after Aug 16, the new rules apply with exceptions on. Assembly. Are you sure? Oh, F___. Maybe it's mine!! The dealer in Pt. Pleasant? That is a big group of dealers with locations in Old Bridge and Bergen County (probably more). It’s your dealership that called. 5 new Lariat trim. Asking for best offer and suggested 5k over MSRP will get it done.
I would check with your accountant. Maybe it has been reinterpreted, but I thought that if you purchased your vehicle before Dec. 31 and it met the assembly requirements, you could claim the tax credit?I read that if you have a purchase order prior to Aug 16th, old rules apply. But after Aug 16, the new rules apply with exceptions on. Assembly.
Anyone have any insight on this? Because the old rule doesn’t have final assembly requirement.I would check with your accountant. Maybe it has been reinterpreted, but I thought that if you purchased your vehicle before Dec. 31 and it met the assembly requirements, you could claim the tax credit?
The worst that can happen is the gubbment will disallow the credit and make you fork over the money. But plead Green insanity and tell them "How Dare You!!," and all will be forgiven. 😜 Seriously, I'm fairly confident you would be good, but don't yell at me if the try to claw back the credit.
"Vehicles Purchased and Delivered between August 16, 2022 and December 31, 2022
If you purchase and take possession of a qualifying electric vehicle after August 16, 2022 and before January 1, 2023, aside from the final assembly requirement, the rules in effect before the enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act for the EV credit apply (including those involving the manufacturing caps on vehicles sold). If you entered into a written binding contract to purchase a new qualifying vehicle before August 16, 2022, see the rule above."
What insight are you looking for?Anyone have any insight on this? Because the old rule doesn’t have final assembly requirement.

The old rules doesn’t say anything about final assembly. My ID4 was built in Germany and I’m able to claim the tax credit. Unless there is mixing and matching, it’s just not clear. What insight are you looking for?
That quote in my post above is straight from the IRS (who added a bunch of new agents to review the taxes of rich people):
Credits for new electric vehicles purchased in 2022 or before | Internal Revenue Service
If you bought or leased a new, qualified plug-in electric vehicle (EV) in 2022 or before, you may be eligible for a clean vehicle tax credit up to $7,500 under IRC 30D.www.irs.gov
Here are the final assembly vehicles, F150 Lighting (note the guidance from IRS says "may"):

After reading the irs link you provided, I’m certain that unless you have a contract signed prior to Aug 16, it’s the new rule. What insight are you looking for?

IIRC, several manufacturers announced price hikes not long after news of the new tax credits came out. I get that prices often go up YOY anyway, but not usually by $7500 unless it‘s a generation change.Taking into account that production of 2023 models will start soon, and the MSRP is $7,500 higher for 2023 models vs. 2022 models, not sure this strategy will succeed in purchasing a new vehicle. I thought the same before I found out that CarMax would pay me 1K less than I paid for the car 5 1/2 years ago.The tables will turn soon enough and the blood sucking dealers will get their just desserts. Congrats. Give us periodic reviews as you put miles on it.I bid 2.5k over MSRP and will pick it up tomorrow
My car search started with the 2021 Ionic Electric. I'm happy I wasn't able to get one. Next looked at the 2022 PHEV model and wasn't able to get that one. Next looked at the 2022 Tuscan PHEV, again couldn't get one. Decided to look at American brands thinking they don't have to cross the Pacific.I just put down a deposit for a 2023 Bolt EUV. I bought it for exactly MSRP. They are backlogged so they expect it to arrive in 3-6 months (after the new tax credit kicks in). After trading in (or selling on Carvana) my current 2019 Ionic (which only has like 100 miles of range), and the tax credits, it will only cost me 7-8k to swap the Ionic for the Bolt.
Recently watched a few other videos reviewing the newest release of FSD software. Really getting very very impressive. The FSD problem was clearly bigger than anyone could have imagined but it seems to me Tesla is very very close. Other companies are years behind or not even trying.

My Lightning status moves to Built. Awaiting shipment info. After reading the irs link you provided, I’m certain that unless you have a contract signed prior to Aug 16, it’s the new rule.
ETA: had my coffe and now I see what you are saying. Now I’m interested again 😀

He loves to hate. Also. He's too stupid to figure out how to post an actual link to an article and form his own thoughts on the subject. Instead, just a Google search. What an intellectually deficient jackass. What is your problem? Do you like firebombing threads to show your hatred of a product or an industry? Find something you like/love instead of hating.
Didn’t ever say I hated the product or the industry. Have researched and found out it is not more environmentally friendly nor is it cheaper to run or own; in fact it is more expensive. What is your problem?
