OT: Electric vehicles

I keep wondering if/when they’ll pivot and decide to either produce a real pickup or just skip it altogether.
Cybertruck will never, ever, be made. It was another Musk gimmick. And if it wasn’t, they totally Missed the window of opportunity and it’s f-ugly as all hell.

I wouldn’t make it, that’s for sure. But I’m not sure Tesla won’t finish it and sell it.

It is extremely ugly, but it could have niche appeal. There’s no accounting for taste.

Given it’s a niche thing, I don’t think they missed an opportunity because I don’t think it was ever aimed at the mainstream truck buyer. But I could definitely see it have a very short product lifespan.

It's aimed at all the nft apes out there.

A) Not copied and pasted, wrote it myself, so bend over backwards and lick your ass. You know you want to.

B) You're just crying because it doesn't fit your "Elon Musk is my future husband" narrative.

C) See (A), above.
You should apologize for posting misinformation, and thank me for correcting you.
My post had nothing to do with Tesla or Musk. You seem obsessed with trying to beat down an American success story. Jealously and insecurity isn't a good look.

This will go down with all of your other failed Tesla predictions:
Tesla is a house of cards
VW will own the EU EV market
Lucid will make Teslas look like a Ford Pinto
Only Silicon Valley elitists will buy Teslas.
Please, keep them coming...

Tesla's product roadmap will be laid out at the earnings call later this month. We'll have a clearer picture about Cybertruck then.

Tesla can't produce Cybertruck without Austin factory and 4680 cells. Austin should be ready for production within weeks and production equipment of 4680s is being installed in Austin right now. Tesla's financials are rock solid, so there's no need to rush anything. Austin Model Y comes first, then Cybertruck.

So... you finished licking your backside and are now going back to licking elon's? Make sure to brush your teeth and use some mouthwash after you're done.

Hmmm, remind me, which one was a failed prediction? Predictions take time.

The Teslarati insist that the legacy auto manufacturers will fail despite the fact they have established operations, and the biggest challenge is likely transitioning from ICE to EV without disrupting the financials. But, in the end, whether it’s ICE or electric it’s still a vehicle made up of components assembled by mechanics, machinists, etc. and not the rocket-science the Teslarati will have you believe. Of course the production numbers will start low but will spike much faster as operations are established.
Mechanics and machinists aren't assembling these vehicles or any other production car.
I recall GM had serious problems during the transition from rear wheel to front wheel drive in the 80s... We'll have to wait and see.

Based on this, F150 lighting is not a great buy. However, its the only truck in that price range that will start delivery in 2022. I feel like these EVs are like iPhones, technology will improve at a rapid pace and make the prior generation significantly worst.

never ever buy any technology in its very first iteration if you don't want to live with the inevitable 1st gen bugs.

Uninformed as usual. It will be made - it will sell and it will have class leading specs. But go keep betting against tesla - very successful strategy.

I look forward to 750 mile range under real world conditions at real world speeds. Not there yet, but if this prototype is any indicator, we’re getting closer. Now we just need to accelerate charging infrastructure.

Care to make a wager?

When the first Cybertruck is delivered, you will change your handle signature to "I am a fool. Never bet against Elon Musk and team Tesla"

If Cybertruck is shelved, I'll change my handle signature to whatever you like.

Signatures will remain 1 year from 1st delivery or cancellation announcement.

LOL…listen, if you end up being right I will be happy to give you and the Teslarati a shout-out and apology. I do think Tesla produces a SUV eventually. Just not the Cybertruck, at least not in the next few years. But I’ll stick with never, ever, since that’s what I said about the Cybertruck.

better bet would be can the Cyber truck outsell F150 Lighting.
Nope. He said "never, ever...."
That sounds like a very confident prediction.
The fact that he's not willing to take the bet is telling. He can make my handle signature anything he wants.
"I masturbate to old lady porn"
"I have a 1 inch penis"
"I sell drugs to children"
You name it.....
All of those are worse than my suggestion for his signature.
Let's go chicken shit! Put up! I think it would be great fun

Zzzzzzzzz. Lame. Tesla makes 2 SUVs already.
Put up.
Let's go!

This is very confusing since they already produce a SUV and a CUV.
I don’t think most people tend to associate Model X with the sport utility vehicle category. It’s more like a touring sedan. And it definitely does not compete with the likes of the Rivian R1S. But if you prefer the word “truck” to prove a point then I’m fine with that and we can forget the “SUV” reference.

Stop pretending. You know better than anyone on the board that the F150 EV will not turn a profit for F. Not even close.

It absolutely will. Full-blown Cowboy Cadillac variants are pushing 100k, just like their IC companions. Nearly all of Ford's overall net rev is in the F-150 lineup. Trust me, they've got this figured out.

LOL! Tell that to the CEO. He admitted that only the top-top-top end F150 EV "may" be profitable. All other models are money losers.

It might be made but it also might be the most hideous vehicle ever produced. It's almost deliberately awful.

Telsa already produces two SUVs.

Then I guess when they do produce the CT, that’ll be when you question the “T”.
You completely missed my point because you thought I was attacking Tesla. I'm not. I'm critical of the entire industry selling some of these crossovers as something that has extra utility over a sedan. What utility is there with the extra tiny ones like the Honda HRV, the tiny Buick, or the model y and BMW x6? Hatchbacks on big tires with a lot less usable space than an actual hatchback.

I got your point. I just think it's a cop out to say they aren't creating them based on your very specific, unique standards. Everyone I know with one considers their X a SUV or their Y a CUV. I think you are on an island with a few with your argument.
Perhaps the definitions of both are evolving like everything else in the industry?

There are quite a few in the auto media who agree with me.
