OT: Fran Brown hired by Syracuse

Jeff Nixon was only Running back coach/Co Offensive Coordinator with the QB coach who was probably the real OC at Baylor. Sounds like Jeff Nixon was OC in name only.

Elijah Robinson was at Texas A&M from 2018-2023 and was DL coach for the entire time. They made him CO-offensive coordinator in 2023 when everybody left or was terminated.

I was right, Syracuse really screwed up with their staff hired. Nobody at Syracuse was a head coach, offensive coordinator or defensive coordinator. Now, knowing what I know, Cuse has only 10% of success. It’s funny how none of the Cuse fans will admit the absence of experience and everyone is a great hire.

Look at what money been posting on their Rutgers trash thread on Syracuse board. I didn‘t give them a second thought because they are irrelevant until I saw his posts.

Why Fran Brown would want to coach in the frozen tundra at such a loser school is beyond me. It must be Sorrycuse is the only school to give him a chance. Walking up to the Dome, the fans were angry. I mean, I'd be angry too if I live there, but they were legit a very negative bunch.

Always wondered why they didn't cheer up, or simply move. I'm trying to think of a number someone would have to pay me to live there... and off the top of my head, it's approaching 9 figures

Fran Brown points:

1. So much better he gets to a NE school now from Georgia than if he stayed more with GS and GS was more reliant on him and all the questions would be how do we survive without him. GS showed he can still recruit this year.
2. Brown does appear over his head as CEO.
3. That being said so was GS and everyone who is a first timer. Can he grow into it--we will see
4. Can he outrecruit his coaching and CEO deficiencies--perhaps. Will need to and likely off to good start.
5. Think he's a good choice for cuse. If he can recruit and get talented coaches home run. If he cant it was worth the shot with that level of recruiter who has been exposed to GS and Kirby Smart.
6. Have seen no one say that Brown being successful could raise the entire NE football profile and help RU. Possible that he takes pitt bc and other recruits and stops some from going south or midwest that doesnt hurt RU but makes NE a viable college football experience.

a dood recruits can spot talent and also can see who is overrated.
But that doesn't make them a good HC.
Also it might be a hint that after being a co-DC at Temple Fran didn't get a shot at any DC position and had to go back to being a position coach again
Moving from being RU's DB coach to being the same at Georgia might be considered going to a better program, but it was a lateral move , not a promotion
So Fran never proved he could be a good coordinator, success as a HC can't be assured.

But there's no doubt his recruiting resume is a good one
That got him in the Orange door for the hire, but can't say his coaching resume made it possible

Yeah there's really not much to do up there except drink, build snowmen and get seasonal depression.

The giant mall they have is kind of cool. It's also right next to Lake Onondaga which is the most polluted lake in the world. It smells like death.

I'd imaging attending there the 90's wasn't half bad as tuition was somewhat affordable, the town wasn't completely overrun with vermin, and the big 3 of FB/bb/lax were rolling

That and the internet wasn't mainstream, so maybe they thought living in those conditions was common place around the world
