OT: Grand Cayman spring break ***update*** Kimpton, restuarants

I did stingray city one time while on a one-day excursion whilst cruising, and I thought it was much ado about nothing. I'd rather snorkel around a reef and explore!

needless to say, I'll be rocking my "R" there in the first week of April.

I'll cast my line one more time for RESTAURANT RECOMMENDATIONS

also, any reviews of the local beer?

Eats Cafe for breakfast.
Lone Star if there's a sporting event you want to watch while drinking beer and eating Chili's or Fridays style food.
The Lighthouse for a nice dinner out with the lady
Guy Harvey's for a touristy place downtown (but only if there aren't many cruise ships in port)

Look for Caybrew and White Tip beer, IMO

Update #2: Every restaurant tacks on 20% service charge. They also add a line on the bill for a tip. There is a big tipping culture on the island but be mindful that the servers are already getting a sizeable cut of the service charge.

+1 on Lone Star, great margaritas and local place to hang.
The Wharf is a great ocean front place. Really good food and great cocktails and wine list. They used to feed the tarpon dockside, it was really cool.
Deckers is also a good casual place. Try the Blood orange mojitos, they are deadly good!

They have a half day catamaran that goes out to the reef where they also have stingrays. Drinks on the trip back to shore. This was the best of both worlds. Out miles to sea but water only about 20 ft deep on the shore side of the reef. perfect clear and snorkel with the Rays. When you tire of that for 5-10 minutes. venture to the reef. 2 things, it is beautiful until you pop your head over the other side where it is a shear dropoff into nowhere.
