OT: How do you explain the Seminoles right now(LOL?)

FSU has bigger problems than that. They spend a boatload on transfers in the portal and for their Dline and they're turning out not to be worth a pack of chewing gum. The Oline can't run block and forget about pass blocking BC lived in FSU's backfield. There are no overnight fixes for these two.
Dont fully agree. When the QB is awful the lesser problems elsewhere mushroom.

Yeah, this. I initially thought it was just that FSU’s QB was turrible. But then the receivers kept dropping the ball, the couldn’t run. And the defense … putrid.

At least we momentarily won't hear any more whining about not making the playoff after three straight losses (going back to bowl).

How do explain Sagarin having Fla St. #24 after these 2 games with Ga. Tech 56 and BC 62?
Well.. it does not factor in prior years... but it starts with a certain seeding. Way too high for FSU.

Sagarins is not a ranking or rating system,.. not really. It relies on that old transitive property thing... Tean A beats Team B (at home, away) by X and if both those teams play team C it means this...

Not until 7 or 8 games are played by everyone can there be enough data for Sagarins to start producing some kind of valid comparison.. even then.. the transitive property is weak in something as complex as football. There are good and bad matchups.. injuries, hot and cold streaks, weather...

So FSU is still "ranked" because Sagarins doesn't know anything. It assumed FSU was number ten.. it assumed the teams they played are weaker.. but maybe those teams aren't so weak. Only after it gets more comparative data can FSU head closer to where it deserves to be... and in teh meantime.. maybe FSU pulls a big upset somewhere.. who knows?

Was listening to Sirius Chanel 84 this morning

Guy said he interviewed players before GTech….
Several players rolled their eyes and made “no way “ hand gestures when he stated “hey tech had a few good wins LY they aren’t a gimme”. He came away amazed how team totally blew off mentally preparing for tech

Tech has a tough team, and their HC is the real deal.

Maybe BC is decent? The qb and rb look good and they always seem to have a good OL. Their upper classmen were good recruiting classes and O'brien knows what he is doing. GT is decent too. FSU will bowl this year no doubt but for playoffs they would need to win out.

How so?
As ive often stated, no pub is bad pub

We’re on page 2 of a thread I didn’t start about a school a lot of you claim to hate

That, my friends, is what’s known as #RentFree
Any team that was ranked #10 in the country and just got upset by two middling teams this early in the season would get a two page thread. It's the biggest story line of the early college football season.

SuperFan loves trolling Smooth, as do a few others

Chances are if this wasn’t the case, the thread wouldn’t have garnered this much interest

That was a pretty rough stat last night about the few teams to start ranked in the top 10 and come out 0-2... and Florida State is now on that list twice. Oof.

I work with a huge FSU fan. He thinks this will be a lost season.

True - Superfan doesn’t contribute much outside of busting other poster’s balls.

He’s right

People shouldn't rail on superflame because of his alternative lifestyle - it's 2024 so come on already. He's just correctly called out a few people as tremendous Michael Kay fanboys #NumbahTwo

I think if Jay wasn’t on here- it may not have had its own thread.
And the pre hype for a team that really hadn’t done anything was super annoying. A lot of fan bases are making fun of them at this point too.
Next- we are waiting for another shoe to drop on VT as well.

I was at the VT - Vandy game on Saturday in Nashville. Talk about a delusional bunch - you'd think Vick and Beamer were still there and it was 2000 all over again.

This post game Va Tech podcast is hilarious. Drunk on Beamer and Vick flavored Kool Aid.

It's going to be nuclear meltdown time we beat them in Blacksburg on 9/21

I know all fanbases have some wacko's (Jay Dog raises hand, looks at himself in mirror), but they're truly a weird bunch
If they ever win anything of significance, they'll completely go off the reservation

At one point in that podcast, they lumped in losing to Rutgers with losing to Old Dominion, Vandy and Boston College as unholy insults. If anyone watched Diego Pavia last year, they knew he was a baller and they would have their hands full. The worst mistake a team and a fanbase can make is looking down their noses and underestimating an opponent.

They are also a cautionary tale of what can happen once a legendary figure leaves, and the infrastructure isn't there to keep up the momentum

What Beamer did in Blacksburg was amazing - Something like 7 BCS bowls, Vick, the 2000 team, Beamer ball, etc.
But unless they get a monster NIL donor, they'll never become consistently elite

With Pry and the talent in the 757, they can be a consistent top 20 team
But you'd think they're Bama by talking with some of people down there

FSU is one of the biggest crash and burns we've seen in awhile. Not only are these two head-scratching loses, but they are conference loses. Gong from a top 10 preseason to 0-2 in conference is not a good way to make the playoff or keep jobs (including the players who are all paid anyway). The QB and the OC already have to be on the hotseat.
FWIW, this shows that what a team looks like on paper isn't always what they look like on the field.
without having seen the game or looked at anything, their entire superstar defense went to the NFL this offseason...
