We not only lose recruits but now a company that has Jersey in its name.

This Jersey Boy wanted to be a Tar Heel. Enough said. See below from NYT or online at: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/06/jobs/06boss.html?_r=0

The Boss
Lessons From the Sub Shop
Published: June 5, 2010

I grew up at the Jersey Shore and played football at Point Pleasant Beach High School as a running back and a defensive back. We always had a big rivalry with Point Pleasant Borough High, in the next town.

Good marketing move ... Except on Fridays during lent

There are nearly twice the # of Jersey Mike's in NC than in NJ. I believe Ohio too.

Sounds like he made a good decision to skip UNC. He's making enough $ from the people of the state sitting in Manasquan.

Pretty sure it's Spring Lake now.

Living in SoCal, things like good sub shops are just not viable options. Given the choices, Jersey Mike's is the best of the lot.

Companies sponsor winners, at least perceived winners in the case of Notre Dame

Once we start to consistently win things will fall into place

I think Jersey Mikes subs are not that great. I much prefer Tastee Subs... You get a little more meat and the bread is better. That said, my buddy is an attorney, just bought 2 jersey mikes franchises in the Midwest. I said to him, wouldn't it be cheaper to just open up a sub shop in your own name?

Spinsorship is all about business. Fine with Jersey Mike putting his money where he thinks it is best deployed. I sit at the US Open and see "Emirates Air" everywhere. Foreign automakers spend a significant amount advertising at US sports events. Yes there s brand alignment, and it would be great if they put their money Rutgers way, but at the end of the day it is a National chain.

My man tastee subs is just another mikes. And their bread is not even real bread so not sure you can say the bread is good. Subway , mikes and tastee all use that same bread. Hate those types of subs. You have to get a real sub In The many great places in jersey.

I swear, on its slowest day this board could clean out the tampon aisle at Walmart.

Nothing says Jersey Pride more than Indiana football.

Jersey Mikes had a chance to do something special ala "Papa John's" and his relationship with Louisville sports.

And they do some real good charitable work that a lot of us never hear about.

I was going to mention this ^^^^. They keep it local. Every individual franchise has to submit a plan how they're going to help in their community before they're allowed to open the doors.

I've worked a couple of their corporate events and came away very impressed. Overall they're also a pretty young company.

This is an example of the issue Rutgers has of no traditional legacy. Mike Cancro was looking to go out of state to college. He may also have religious or family that help him align to Notre Dame. When he was growing up and developing his allegiances, Rutgers was a joke. Now that he is older her may have a soft spot for his state school but when it is time to put up his money he goes to the perennial safe bet. In some ways it is like a sponsor choosing between the Red Bulls or Yankees. Even in a down year the Yankees have more marketing juice then the best year for the Red Bulls. The same can be said for Rutgers where even if Rutgers went 11-1 the juice may not be as great as a 9-3 Notre Dame nationally.

F 'em. They are never getting any of my money going forward. Hillsboro Deli will be where I buy all my subs going forward. If only I knew where it was...
