OT: Jersey Mike's sponsoring Notre Dame Football on NBC

This is an example of the issue Rutgers has of no traditional legacy. Mike Cancro was looking to go out of state to college. He may also have religious or family that help him align to Notre Dame. When he was growing up and developing his allegiances, Rutgers was a joke. Now that he is older her may have a soft spot for his state school but when it is time to put up his money he goes to the perennial safe bet. In some ways it is like a sponsor choosing between the Red Bulls or Yankees. Even in a down year the Yankees have more marketing juice then the best year for the Red Bulls. * The same can be said for Rutgers where even if Rutgers went 11-1 the juice may not be as great as a 9-3 Notre Dame nationally.
It's Pete, but I know what you meant.

* Yes and no. 11-1 now with a B1G sked would look a lot different to the rest of the country than 11-2 did in 2006.

This is a great opportunity for a social media campaign. It'd be cool to get something going. If it's good natured, Jersey Mikes might show us some love. Ideas for hashtags anyone?

Can you imagine Wal-Mart not having any interest in Arkansas sports, but being a sponsor of Tennessee,Nebraska, or Texas A&M instead.
Jersey Mike's couldn't even hold Wal-Mart's jock strap. Comparing the two is actually hilarious.

ND can have Jersey Mike's for all I care.

Jersey Mike's is a national brand. ND is the national brand in CFB. NBC is seen all over the US. Makes marketing sense. Get over it.
