Mets should pretend to trade Tejada !

Let's go mets ! One of the best 4 inning stretch I ever seen , line drives every where

JEROME WILLIAMS is pitching tomorrow [banana]. Gave up 8 runs and didn't get out of the second in Miami :baseball::boom::bomb:

Last night Ron Darling said Juan Samuel looks like he could still play. That was the worst trade ever Samuel for Dykstra I still cringe thing about that.

I agree.
Mercifully, CC has NO spot when Pineda returns to the rotation in a few days. That is unless management decides to screw another of their starters like they did Adam Warren. CC is done. Perhaps the Phillies or the Rockies cold use him. After all he DOES have a lower ERA than the guy Philadelphia is sending out there tonight to face the Queen's Bombers.

Mets set 2 club records yesterday:
-most HRs in a game (8)
-most extra base hits in a game (15)

not bad for a team that many said was one of the worst offenses in baseball.

Can't wait for Duda to get back in 12 days! It'll be the first time this offense is entirely healthy.

The question is how often will Wright play going forward? I'm guessing to start he'll play 2, sit 1 more or less. At that I'm only thinking they'll go to a play 3, sit 1 as a maximum anyway. Its spinal stenosis, generally speaking it never gets better, all they can do is slow the progression and keep the guy comfortable.

Wright won't play a day game after a night game, and I think should play 2 and then sit one. Uribe needs to play too, so I wouldn't go crazy on Wright PT.

It's getting crazy. The Mets fall behind early, and I don't even worry if they will make a comeback. I just assume they will.

The Mets must prove they can beat the Pirates or the Cubs before counting on winning the National League. They are definitely improved but they have a long way to go.

And the Cardinals -- and even the Nats. The Mets are young, good and improving. But these other teams are good too -- even the Nats, if they can get out of their own way. And the Mets might not be there just yet. The NL is top heavy, and the top has some talented teams.

Baseball players are such little sissies. Waaah he showed happiness on the field. Let's throw a hard baseball 90 mph at his head as revenge.

Mets only have to beat one of Cards/Cubs/Pirates in a potential NLCS if we make it that far, and if of course we win the East. Think we need to root for Giants out of playoffs, Cards out in NLDS, and Yanks out prior to WS (not to stroke some egos more than necessary after digesting some posts on this thread).

Will take my chances regardless if we take the division.

Word around baseball is the Mets are the team that no one wants to play in the playoffs.

Even after last night's big line, here are Carlos Gomez's numbers on the Astros:

23 games, 17-89 (.191), 2 HR, 8 R, 8 RBI, 5 SB

Wilmer Flores in August:

20 games, 22-69 (.319), 3 HR, 12 RBI 15 R

Cespedes as a Met:

22 games, 30-98 (.306), 7 HR, 20 RBI, 16 R, 4 SB

That worked out well.

This is a crazy stat:
Opening Day to July 24: Mets lowest scoring team in NL
July 25-August 25: Met highest scoring team in NL

What a difference a couple of weeks make. Back then, if a team scored two runs against them, you could almost shut the game off. Now, the lineup is amazing. d'Arnaud batted 8th last night!! He and Wright returned from injuries and Alderson acquires Cespedes, Uribe and Johnson and it's a different team with pitching, depth, and versatility. Just need some middle innings bullpen depth now.

Thor gets hit pretty hard on occasion. I watched the post game interview. He is still learning the ropes.
I missed Monday's game. What happened with de Grom? Just a 1 game melt down?

deGrom's command was off as was his velocity. I heard somewhere that he said he was sick.

He looked sick actually, every time you saw his face it looked puffy and pale and his facial expressions weren't the norm.
They just said he was dealing with food poisoning, but didn't want to use it as an excuse. You're right he looked sick that night.
