Cespedes did nothing special. 6 at bats, 1 hit, 2 Ks, 3 LOB. And he misjudged that first fly ball. I'm not defending Cuddyer, but Cespedes way underperformed last night, and plus he had another K where the catcher dropped the ball and he did not run to first. Royals are a solid team, and margin for error is small. I have faith Mets will come back strong tonight.

At least he did contribute by getting a hit to start a rally that led to a run he scored on a sac fly that not a lot of people would have been able to score on, because it wasn't all that deep.

To bring up Cespedes' stats in a conversation about sitting Cuddyer is silly.

Cespedes' upside is he can totally wreck a game; with his bat, his speed, his presence in the line-up (ask Murph) and his throwing arm.

Cuddyer's upside is a slap single accompanied by 2 or 3 horrifying ABs.

Was not defending Cuddyer. Just saying blame goes all around. Batters with most hits for Mets were Wright and Murphy. Some of you guys love to sack Wright. Yeah, he has not done well with RISP. All around, a lot of missed opportunities by many Mets, but the Royals played well and had some great fielding. Just was not the Mets' night last night, but tonight will be. . . . [banana]

I'm not a big BB fan but I've been watching post season BB religiously since 1973 and this is my opinion on the game. Yes pitching is paramount in a teams success but hitting is also critical. During the 1997 World Series the Cleveland Indians had superior pitching to the Florida Marlins but the Marlin bats neutralized their pitching and won the World Series. My point here is that equal emphasis needs to be put on offense and the Mets offense is suspect. Yes Familia pulled a Benitez and choked but the Mets had opportunities to blow this game wide open but could not pull the trigger.

One final thing on Wright if I may. Why are you trying to run on Sal Perez with Murphy at the plate? Dude you're not Vince Coleman. Took that hole on the right side away from him.

Make solid contact on 2-0 or 3-1 counts? Yes Conforto looks over his head right now. 2-0 fastball and the best you can do is weakly pop it up to an infielder? Definitely might struggle to put up runs when about a 3rd of your lineup is almost like an automatic out.

Well for one thing they seem to have a real plan at the plate. They don't go outside the zone and even if they do it seems they make contact enough to at least foul balls off. And they also never look like they're trying to do too much. Look how many balls they've served back up the middle. Only wish we had professional hitters like that.

The Royals are used to the World Series pressure AND they're good fastball hitters. The Mets starters are fastball pitchers, which is not a good combo, especially with the Mets offense choking.

I just don't understand how the mets have hit maybe 5 balls to the outfield all game including outs, when we've had more than 5 3-1 count's this game, we now have 2 hits in the last 9 innings by the way, against a guy with a 4.76 era in the regular season and old man Chris Young.

This game might be pretty much over with the bullpen Kansas City has and our hitters. Haven't even managed to put much stress on this guy. Only scored because of a little bloop hit over the infield.

In 1986 we had Ray Knight, Kieth Hernandez, Gary Carter and Mookie Wilson calming down the younger players. Even when we were down 0-2. They rallied the team to fight back and win the next two. In game 6 with two outs we had great BATS to tie the game and eventually win. We didn't rely on pitching, heck we didn't even rely on pitching in game 7 when we fell behind. It was our BATS that won, not the pitching. Yes pitching is great, the 1999 & 2000 Yankees can attest to that but at the end of the day you need an offense. I love this team and will support this team, it's up to the GM and owner to bring in experienced BATS.

I don't follow baseball but ended-up at my first game in 20 years last Memorial Day. I saw Royals get pasted 14-1. I just assumed the Royals sucked and was surprised to see them in the WS, They look like a machine the last 2 nights

Right now the Royals look like the better team. They knocked deGrom around pretty good and our lack of hitting is making Cueto look like an ace. Agree that they seem to go to the plate with better plans and have a knack of putting the bat on the ball and eventually putting it in play. Must win Friday night at Citi Field.
