I would like a description of the following 2 CPT codes....

82542

80156

Are they Urine only? Urine / Blood? Blood only?

Is there a difference between ICD-9 / ICD-10 relative to these codes?

Please describe.

Thanks

MO

82542 is the California CPT code for "Medical Marijuana to Treat Anxiety & General Psychosis".

80156 is the code for a digital prostate exam.

If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to help.

ICD 10 is about a million times more complex than ICD 9 which is no longer allowed to be used.

The Sub Code says 'Glove and lube not necessary'.

I refer to the ICD 10 codes all day long and "complex" is the kindest thing I could say about them. They are detailed to a ridiculous degree. Have you seen the codes for the following?

Contact with a goose.
Bitten by a goose.
Struck by a goose.
Other incounter with goose.
Initial encounter.
Subsequent encounter. (The goose comes back and bites you again?).
Sequella.

I thought this was a joke when it was described to me by a physician friend. Turns out she was hit by a goose while riding her bicycle and the ED found out they actually have codes for it.

They also have codes for the above for parrots, macaws and other piscatine creatures. They must have been smoking a lot of dope when they sat down to write these suckers.

Been doing Opiates?

Hate to disappoint, but I'm a founding partner in a Toxicology Service....specializing in Workers comp. in CA / now expanding into AZ.

Took a coding class about 10 years ago ...and the verdict is in. Neither my partner nor I are coders.

PS Had a dinner with a Neurosurgeon / a Pain Specialist several months ago. The Pain Guy said that "testing for drugs " wasn't needed. This moron thinks he can tell around > 90% of the time if someone is on drugs. He hasn't got a clue: and when he prescribes Vallium / Percocet, Darvocet or Vicodin & the patient is already taking Ultram etc. and OD's....I hope they DO take his license.
