Two @ Miss State. One @ Foxborough. Was hoping RU would try for a similar deal.

Almost every SEC school has 8 homes every year, with very weak OOC games. Buty hey, their conference games are soooo brutal, it's only right !

We are playing Norfolk State... so best not to rip the SEC that much....

Kudos to UMass...who because they might not be in a conference after next year - are beefing up their schedule...BTW, Caggiano will be a FR Kicker for UMass next year

I am sure there is some calculation that is done with relation to OOC games on the SEC networks. Each game televised may be worth like $1 mil to the TV partners. That may be why the work hard for the extra home games.

Because the B1G has a proud history of playing MAC teams. And, UMass is the closest MAC team to RU.

I would like to play a game in Boston and tweak BC and UConn plus a drive-able road game. Same for Buffalo too.

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, a Drexel Hill, PA native, was a tightend at Div-III Ursinus. Guy has climbed the coaching ranks ... Wagner, Columbia, Syracuse, Notre Dinero, Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, Mississippi State. Urban Meyer protege. His roster is definitely from the South ... MS, AL, LA, FL, TN, GA, TX. One player from Maryland, 1 from Missouri, 1 from Canada. Won't be going to Massachusetts to open a new recruiting area.

We should have gotten a 3 for 2 with Temple...just the simple economics of the value of a home game for us vs the value of a home game for Temple merits not an even home at home series

The SEC sure does know how to schedule those out of conference games huh.

I'm not a scheduletard but if this is for one season it means 50% of the teams scheduled a P5 opponent. None of them being in the Any place but perfect weather conditions. (Not sure where Oklahoma game is played)

Those are not all the P5 opponents, just a sampling

Out of conference games are almost always played in September, where would you like them to play a cold weather game? North Pole?

The Saturday before the Iron Bowl, November 21, Auburn hosts Idaho and Alabama hosts Charleston Southern.

Some of those SEC players end up on the rosters of northern NFL teams. How do they adjust then?

They are generally bought games.

Just about every P5 team, these days, who plays a G5 team is paying for it. I was merely remarking that, like our midwestern brethren, we could also play a MAC team. In this case, it's a MAC team only 4.5 hours away and MUCH closer to my house.

Not that there's really any real reason to do so but, if we wanted to play UConn or BC, I'm cool with that too. Anywhere which shortens my drive to games, I would love!

That's a misunderstanding of the scheduling. The schools with year-end rivals have started moving one of their cupcake games to the week before the rivalry game, so they can basically have an extra week to prepare.

Aside from that, it's harder to get a P5 team to schedule an OOC game in November. It's easy to get AA teams to do it, because they need the money and will play just about whenever you tell them.

So you think it should be Alabama @ Minnesota and Auburn @ BC the week before the Iron Bowl?
My comments were in response to your assertions that SEC teams play OOC games in September and that SEC teams don't have late-in-the-season dates to schedule games in a colder clime. I think it's fair to say that SEC teams do everything they can to avoid games where weather could have some say in the outcome and style of play and that in general, they don't go all over the map to play "away" (not neutral site) games.

Actually I said 'Out of conference games are almost always played in September'

I hope UMass is getting paid. I highly doubt that Mississippi State will be a big draw in Foxboro.

There really aren't that many options. Mainly, the only P5 teams in the north are the Big Ten. The Big Ten plays almost all of their OOC games in September. They've been doing that for about 50 years. Your argument really doesn't have any merit.

You may want to change that to "September, as well as later in the season". In 2014, Georgia played Charleston Southern on 11/22; TN played Chattanooga on 10/11; Arkansas played UAB on 10/25; South Carolina played South Alabama on 11/22; Auburn played Samford on 11/22; Florida played Eastern Kentucky on 11/22; Mississippi played Presbyterian on 11/8; Kentucky played ULM on 10/11; Alabama played Western Carolina on 11/22; Texas A&M played ULM on 11/1; Mississippi State played UT-Martin on 11/8; Vanderbilt played Old Dominion on 11/1.

Thank God big ten teams don't play cup cake games unlike the scary-cat SEC

...oh, wait!

So out of the couple hundred OOC games per year, you found 12 outside Sep? Sounds like I nailed it
