I'm looking to get from Newark Airport to Marlboro, tomorrow afternoon. I only need to go one way (not round trip). Rental car is a bit pricey (almost $250, when taxes/fees are added in). Is there a car service anyone can recommend that will pick up at the airport and drive to Marlboro? Is there any public transit option?

Any help anyone can provide will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Jersey Coast Line to Matawan/Aberdeen and then Uber it or find a car service/taxi online.

Go to the cab line outside the terminal. I've never done this particular trip but it should cost about $120 - $150. By far the easiest way.

I checked saferides.org That would cost roughly $120 including tip (they charge you 20% for tip).

Just so I know - can I catch the train for the Jersey Coast Line inside the terminal? I thought the Northeast Corridor was the line that connected to the airport.

No. You have to take the AirTrain from the airport to the Airtrain NJ Transit terminal and change there for a JCL train.

I believe the JCL meets the northeast corridor at the Rahway stop. Then you can take the train at Rahway right to EWR. I've done it quite a few times

Newark Airport services both NJCL and NEC. Airtran to the train station at the airport and then jump on the NJCL line south.

No need to transfer at Rahway. Most NJCL trains stop at the EWR station. Look at njtransit.com or at the train timetable on the screens in the station when you arrive. Take the monorail from the terminal to the "RailLINK" station where you can hop on an outbound (Long Branch or Bay Head bound) NJCL train.

Alternatively you could take Uber from EWR to Marlboro for probably about $50-70 (totally guessing) depending on surge pricing. If you have the app, enter the address and get a fare estimate.

While Uber is likely your best bet, that rental car price seems high. Is the quote for the whole trip? Avis has a location on Rt 79 in Marlboro. You can check to see how much a one way rental would be from the airport to that location.

Sorry...missed the one way part of your post. Probably so pricey based on it being last minute.

a rental car won't make sense for 1 way. They charge an up fee for that because then they have to get the car back to the airport. Also, there are additional taxes for rental cars at the airport.

Best bet is the person offering a ride, Uber, or NJ Transit.

The travel time via car from the airport to Marlboro should be 45 mins tops (unless there is traffic).

NJ Transit may take up to 2 hours though since you have to factor getting from the airport to the Airport NJ Transit station, wait time for a NJCL train, the 40 min train ride, and then time from the Matawan station to your destination.
